I like the looks of the forest river fix.
It's thoughtful and well designed and at first glance, I briefly(a small part of a mere moment) considered installing it just because I can.

It will however generate a whole new batch of contentions regarding rain/snow/road grimed water getting past the air filter and into the combustion chamber through the carb.

If air flow is a worry, a plug in 120v fan would add the air flow which any owner/expert prescribes. Available in all sorts of cfm, it comes on when the generator comes on(how do it know?) and turns off when the generator turns off, and never before, with no need for a thermostat.

12cfm to 1,200cfm...cheap... Two screws to install or a $1,500 mounting system, owners choice.

But if it makes you feel better any good body shop can put vents in the door for you or just buy the new style door.
I'm an ASE certified mechanic and have done ALL of my mods myself. The ONAN Air intake screen is inches from the side door. I was going to order a vent and do it, until I saw a new Thor from a dealer with one. Like I said, how much $$$ do we have to spend to just make it safe? It's pretty sad that we all have to have our mods listed in our profiles (shocks, swaybars, airbags, Timbrens etc...).

WILL NEVER BUY A THOR AGAIN!

How does putting an air vent in a door make the RV safe? How does not having the vent make it unsafe?

Running the generator while driving down the road is a convenience, not a safety feature.

Calling this a "safety issue" dilutes the importance of real safety issues like door locks breaking and locking people in their RV.

I want to see a shipping receipt showing Thor sent you one, much less a free one. Is it possible that the one you saw was installed by the dealer at the customers request, and expense?
Thor will REALLY miss you !!!!!
