These guys are amazing when it comes to solving problems; aren't they?

As for me: I'm more of a "cautionary tale" sort of guy.

Last weekend I decided to check the tire pressures. (That adventure was in another thread)
When it came time to button things up: I could not get them to seat properly! Round and round I went... Tap one side in, and the other one would pip up.
So I walked away to clear my head, and let things sink in...
Today was the day to finish the task. I grabbed my rubber mallet, both covers, and a handful of resolve; and set down alongside the first battlefield. As I picked up a cover: the clouds parted, birds started singing, and the Sun shined brightly.
I noticed the cut-out for the valve stem!
Two minutes later: the first one was solidly in place. The second one went on even quicker!
It had been so long since I had a car with wheel covers; that I had completely forgotten the finer points of nailing them in place.
So when you get frustrated with a task: walk away, and gather your thoughts.
And a little bit of luck never hurts either...
LOL! That's a great story. It's been at least 35 years. We used to sit on our butts and use both feet.

It has been so long that I forgot about doing that myself! If I tried it now I would end up in traction with my lower back. It is time for an adult beverage!

Thanks

Thanks for sharing Bob.

I usually get things done ok in the end but every now and again I overlook something so basic that I am embarrassed to tell anyone.

Nice to know i am not the only one.

Only once a day? I refer to myself in even harsher terms at least hourly, and even that is only about half the frequency my thick-headedness warrants.

I thought about upgrading to aluminum wheels, but I don't want a second mortgage on the home.

Getting at the inner dual tire can be difficult. Valve extensions are a great investment...no longer any need to pull the covers.

Thank you Bob, perfect post for my day. Frustration with setting up a new fitness tracker.....Solved after I walked away for a few minutes.

I concur. Even with the extensions, the valves for the inner tires prove elusive.

You can get as much aerobic exercise just from setting them up...

Wrong valve stems??

Hi, several weeks ago, in another state, I took our 2019, 24 Ft mh in to have the tires checked and rotated. They lost a hubcap and were nice enough to send me a "close" replacement. At home I took it to the same tire shop to have the cap put on. They are telling me that the mh has the wrong valve stems on the dual wheels, that the tire pressure cannot be checked accurately, and that I need to get Thor to correct this. We are out of warranty, but this sounds very strange. Has anyone run into this issue? I would like to correct it and also I would like to install a pressure equalization system. Will the system correct my stem problem (if there is one) Ideas?

Valve Stem Issue

Hi, thanks for all the replies. I called the tire dealer back to clarify what I was told and they said it is the "extensions" on the valve stems, not the stems exactly. The extensions do not align with the valve stems so they will not allow one to measure the tire pressure. I will have them changed soon.
