Kinked water lines going into slide
This is more of a PSA than anything else but I ran into an issue with not getting hot water after setting up on a recent trip. The water pump also ran every few seconds but there were no leaks anywhere that I could find so I started to get concerned about a leak behind the shower or something like that.
It turned out the flexible water lines under the dinette bench in the slide had become kinked right at the connection to the floor (the fixed portion). The water heater is under the other dinette bench in the slide so what was happening is the water was struggling to get to the heater and back. The pump running every few seconds was squeezing a little bit of water to/from the heater but not enough to get back out the faucets on the other side of the coach.
The temporary fix was to take the cover off the bench seat and straighten out the flexible hoses to remove the kink. After that the water heater filled fully and everything was mostly fine, still a little lack of pressure on the hot water probably because the hose has a permanent pinch where it was kinked.
Now I'm looking for a permanent fix since I've had to do this on two consecutive trips. I was thinking of using a short piece of PVC slid over the hose down to that point as a sort of strain relief so the hose can't fold over right at that spot. Does anyone have any more creative ways to deal with this?
