Ladder was loose on Hurricane

I noticed that my ladder was loose on the top of the roof. It was just the right side.
When I inspected it I realized that the flange that goes on the roof was fine but the bolt on the inside that holds the ladder to the flange was what was actually loose.
I removed all the white stuff from the screws so I could unbolt the flange from the roof. Once I did that sure enough the long screw was super loose. Instead of just tightening it I took the screw out and put some blue loctite on it and put it back on. Then I screws it back down on the roof.

What is the best way to repair this now?
I've never done any roof work.

The other side is probably fine but might need some touchup.

Thanks

If the ladder is now secure dope up the flange and screw heads with Dicor self-leveling lap sealant.
Walk the roof and touch up any other areas the existing Dicor is cracked or peeling. You may have to peel off the old and refresh with the new stuff. You should inspect the roof at least once a season as part of your regular maintenance.

I think he is asking for a better or more permanent repair?

This one is sensitive to me because at one point we had cashiers check in hand to buy a Windsport and a wobbly ladder was one of the things to fail our PDI. It was loose in 3 or 4 places and you could tell that attempts at repairs had been tried multiple times. At the end of the day the Dealer said it was repaired and they were not going to repair any further Spoke with Thor who said the damage was not a warranty item. I can't be sure, but it seemed like they knew the coach IU was asking about? Dealer kept saying I should not be on the roof anyway It didn't help that back then; I was scared to get on the roof so getting on the ladder that wobbled just made it worse.

I really look forward to how this repair is recommended? I am on my roof all the time now. I can't imagine an RV without a solid attached ladder.

If I'm not missing something, the OP said the ladder is now mechanically secure? If so, all that's left is to seal with lap sealant to restore to a watertight condition.

Clean the area carefully with acetone. Apply a liberal coat of color matched self leveling roof sealer. There are endless YouTube videos demonstrating this procedure.

Once I tightened the screw under the flange it's fine now. It's super secure now. I just won't want leaks so wasn't sure what that white stuff was and how to put it on. But seems pretty easy so I ordered some on Amazon and I'll keep it and a caulking gun in my rig for future.

That is great. Like I said the ladder is kind of sensitive to me and when Dealer was up front about not doing any more to stabilize before or after the sale 🤔 I had to pause.

A wise mindset... every time I climb ANY ladder I go VERY slow and deliberate - never in a hurry. If it's wet from dew or rain, it's a NO GO. If ANYTHING seems loose or "not right", it's also a NO GO until it's PROPERLY repaired.

Ladders should be taken very seriously - as should anything that can kill you. They are one of the top killers around the house... an RV ladder is NO different.

I have a 25 year Painter ( ) who told me he could not work for a while because he had fallen off a ladder and had broken several bones. He could hardly walk.

That is why I only use my ladder to change the oil

We had a new 20ft Fish & Ski boat we had bought from Uncle Gus Lodge & Marina. The Wife and I scheduled a weekend from Dallas to break the boat in.

I fished all day Saturday for Stripper and Bass. Not even a nibble, didn't even see fish jump out the water; not even water turkeys diving. I gave up and moored the boat on the bank not too far from our tent. After dinner; I got restless, so I go back to the boat, put corks on the 3 rod & reels locked them and put bass minnows on them. Why not? Around 11:00 PM that night I grab my flashlight and thought I would bring the rod & reels in. It was pitch dark, so I had the flashlight making my way to the boat. I see one cork just going wild!!! I rushed to the boat; and as you might gather I picked up the wrong pole each time When I got the right pole I had a fighter, it was an amazing feeling, but I could not get him in, I was yelling for my wife to get the net, but she was not coming across that grassy terrain in the dark It seemed like 5 minutes had passed and this fish was not giving in. Then suddenly he stopped. I was tired and stunned. So I reeled him in and he was a beauty. When I got him out of the water to grab him; the line broke and he got away, he was too heavy for my line

Devastated, I am thinking no one is going to believe this story. Frustrated I shine the light across the water and I see a fish just sitting in water about 15 ft from the boat, note the water was only about 3 or 4 ft deep as I was on the shoreline. So as I moved closer I noticed the fish seemed to move toward the light So I shine the light to the left about 2 ft and the damn fish swam to that spot. I then moved the light 2 ft to the right toward the boat, the fish was following the light!!! I did it a few more times zig zagging toward the boat until the fish was starboard side on stern. I had flashlight in my right hand and with my left hand I reached into the water, grab the fish and pulled him out. With the light I don't think the fish ever saw me. Sure enough I could see the hook, minnow and broken line still in the fish. So there have been many fish tales, but I actually caught the one that got away with a flashlight.
