Low Voltage warning

2021 Thor Venetian
5100 miles
About 30 mins out from our campsite, my dash warning light kept coming on for “Low Voltage” and my chassis batteries were reading below 12 volts.
Pulled into camp and the rear of the coach was squealing pretty loudly.
I crawled under and released the belt tension and found the pulley on the alternator had play and was wobbly.
I found the parts locally after calling around. Took about 3 hours to round up a new alternator and pulley.
Good news is it took less than an hour to swap out.
Going to submit my invoice for parts and labor to Freightliner for warranty.
My belt has a line in it, but nobody had it in stock so I will order one and a spare and replace later.
All is good!
Always make sure you have a good tool kit in the rig!

Glad you got it replaced on your own and quick given the situation

My Delco 160 Amp failed at 18,000 due to high voltage

Not great life out of Alternators and high priced ones at that

Good job!! Having good tools is a plus, but knowing which tools to bring comes from experience (and a bit of luck). Then you need not bring the whole roll-around.

But I did cringe when I saw your legs out underneath the MH, with the levellers extended and no jack stands! I could see myself doing it... but it is not safe.
Same as not always killing live circuits before working on them... too lazy to get proper eyewear when working on the batteries... using a boxcutter as a "saw" and cutting my finger open.... did this 2 weeks ago.

But good job, well done and I hope the claim goes through effortlessly.

I understand the concerns as I am a mechanic. I had to work with what I had and did not have Jack stands or any blocking. Also that cavity is very large, as I could almost fully stand up in there. If the rig was to lower, there was enough space for me to stay safe.
