Step O/R switch not keeping steps out
Having an issue with my Kwikee Steps. They work great, BUT, they will not stay out when the step override is on.
Switch is good (checked)
Ground is good (checked)
Looking to see if there is a fuse on the wire feeding the switch, and if so, where it would be on a 2017 Miramar 35.2
Thanx

The steps will not stay out when the ignition is on, even in accy position. If it still retracts when the door is closed and the override switch is on, then Likely you have a defective controller. There are troubleshooting steps in your Kwikee manual. But if not, then you can find them here. https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...cd_0001628.pdf

Thanx HarryS. Yes, Key was off, and removed. Will check the doc you sent and do some testing.
Appreciate the help!

does your stay switch light up in your rig?
You know you have power to the steps.
I would eyeball the switch, put a meter on it and test if it closes and opens.

There is a magnetic switch at the bottom of the door that signals when the door is closed so when the engine is running the steps know they should retract in case the coach is going to be moving.
Magnetic switches come Normally Open or Normally Closed. My guess is the one on the coach is normally open. When the door closes and the magnet gets close enough the switch closes so the steps know to retract. If the magnetic switch is stuck closed, that could cause the problem because the steps are gtting a signal that the door is closed.... even when the door is open.
There should be two wires visible at the magnetic switch. I would try disconnected one and see what happens.

From what I have learned, I either have a bad control unit, or a blown switch for the ignition override. Does anyone know a location for that fuse?

I have the exact same problem on Hurricane 27k 2014. There is power at the bypass switch (12v) if the switch is actived but nothing at the connector of the steps. The wire go from the swith orange/white and should go to the connector of the step. At the step connector the wire is some sort of white . It looks like the wire goes trough some other connector to change color, but I can't find it. The wiring hardness from the switch goes from the passenger of the rv, reaches a bigger hardness on the driver side and then goes to ...I don't know. Then there is another hardness that goes form the driver side to the step connector. What happen in between I don't. The problem looks like a bad contact or a cut wire.
I assume the junction between the 2 connectors is done at the front of the rv as it should collect the ignition signal on a yellow wire but I can't confirm.

Further investigation reveal:
I was wrong wigh the wiring. The bypass switch signal goes all the way to the step without problem. I tested all of th wiring according to the manufacturer procedure and found the ignition signal to be good up to the connector, the door switch signal also good, the 12v power line good and as mentionned the bypass signal good. So it appears to be the control module. I will investigate further to see if the problem is the control box or in the wiring between the connector and the control box.
