Water heater temperature question

Can anyone advise if the propane water heater gets the water hotter than the electric heater? Electric was fine for the summer but with winter coming I am thinking about getting my propane heater fixed but wondering if it is worth it before spending the money.

AFAIK they use the same thermostat circuit.

The water temp is normally the same however the cycle time from cold to hot is shorter using both electric and propane at the same time. The manual for your water heater should tell you what the set water temperature is keeping in mind there is a recommended maximum temperature of around 120 degrees.

I've found on ours that electric alone is slowest getting to temperature, propane is quicker, using both together is quickest.

After getting up to temp, electric and propane perform about the same maintaining temperature.

If I want the water hot quicker, I use both... takes about 10 - 12 minutes. If plugged into shore power I try to use electric exclusively to save propane. Boondocking I use a mix depending on battery levels.
