Looking for a spare rim for E450 Axis

Im trying to put together a spare tire for my 2017 Axis. Well I read about every "spare tire" posting on this forum but when I go to purchase on Amazon I find a note that says "Does NOT Fit E350 E450 Box Truck/Cutaways" on the rim that looks correct for my application.

Will that work on my "Stripper Chassis Axis"? Am I overthinking this?

I did some other searches and I either find a OEM rims for $225.00 + or folks that are "out of stock" or it shows ealier years like 2003 - 2007 only?

Will "any" of these late model Ford E350 / E450 rims work on our RV's?

Why would they say "not for Cutaway's"?

I sourced a matching tire locally but they cannot find a "cheap rim" (other than going to Ford for $225+).

Any suggestion? Thanks.

Yep, thats the one I put in my cart but then I read the notes about the Cutaway and had second thoughts.

I will just pull the trigger on this one. Thanks.

I also saw your posting on your under the rear mounting. I think I will purchase a tire hoist and mount so some angle iron then secure with a ratchet strap for extra saftey. That will make it easier to raise and lower. I have plenty of room for my 29 inch tire to be mounted under the RV (I have the 27 foot floor plan).

That wheel will not fit over the brake rotors. It will bolt up, but supposedly it rubs badly. Like won't turn. This is likely why they have the cutaway disclaimer. The information on not fitting over the brake is buried somewhere in the reviews or on some forum I read. It's not my info from experience but I decided it was easy enough to resolve, so I bought the rim.
If you have a front flat you use a stock outside dual tire to replace the front flat and put your spare as the outer dual. Same with an inside dual flat.
You change two tires.

It's the same spare I have purchased.
I've written instruction ALL OVER the spare rim in big undeniable letters.

For real? I already ordered it. I guess I will see what it looks like when I get it.

You'll see a slight slope difference on the inside of the rim.
I didn't mind the wheel swap incase of a flat that's why I ordered it.
I think I paid 63 bucks for mine on Amazon.
I carry tire tools and plenty of roadside assistance.
It really wasn't a worry.
I can't mess up by missing the notes written on the rim.

Well does anyone know the correct rim for the E450? I rather have the correct rim, I can send this one back if it wont fit.

Thanks.

From what I know only the Ford factory rim is available for the right fit.
But double check my research about it hitting the brake.
I'm fairly sure it's in the reviews.

Just cancel the order. If you just ordered it today that should be doable.

The caliper issue is the first question that shows up in the questions area.

Check e-bay I bought mine there. It is a used factory wheel.

I just checked there and they are listed at $88.00.

Well its a 3rd party, I "requested" a cancellation. I guess I will see what happen. Hard to belive it wont fit. I guess they put bigger brakes on the stripper frames since they will be heaver with RV (or bus) added to them?

Or maybe it will fit anyway. I can try on the front of my RV before I put the tire on.

Ebay is where I got my rim and it's on the rig right now.

Thanks, My rim was already shipped by the time I email them (wow that was quick). I will have it this FRI. I might try to mount the rim only on the front to see if it fits before I have the tire shop install the tire on the rim. If it dont.... I might do like Duckface suggested. Its just more work if its a front tire and if your in the cold or rain (or both) that will kinda suck. I also ordered a TPMS today and looking at a Viair compressor for C class RV's. Thanks for the info. I will update you once I know if it fits or not.

That’s the one I bought as well - although I will admit I have not yet tried fitting it to the motorhome yet.. The part number matched the PN I had from Ford - so it should work.
Have you tried mounting it yet?

The short answer is No.
But...
- it looked exactly the same
- it fit the tire size perfectly
- and I’m not gonna stress on it

All I can say is that I hope I never use it
And, that my chassis is a 2016 Build date...so, hopefully, the caliper brake issue is in later models

Yeh, it was too easy to just write instructions on it and flip wheels if it doesn't fit.
I didn't need a test fit and from reading a bit more indepth, it bolts up just fine and is only a slight bind on the caliper. Maybe the caliper can be ground down fractionally
you won't know until you do know

I'll swing em around dependant on need.
It's all three of us here found to be reasonably priced.
I didn't look for used.
The differential in search and find and wallow and drive and clean and such for used far outweighed me swapping things around a it if I get a flat.
By me, I mean the 1 in 10,000 chance I get a flat multipled by the 1 in 500 chance I won't call roadside service.

Ok, Last SAT I mounted the rim only to the front of my Axis so I know if it would fit or not.

The inside of the rim just barely scraps the outside (on the Front face near top edge) of the brake calper.

It spins freely but lightly scraped so im sure in the pinch it would "Self correct" itself by the time it scraped off the paint (only need like 2 MM of room at most).

But perhaps on a curvey road the rim will flex a little and scrap real bad? So I wont use on the front but I bet it would fit the rear just fine.

I figured on most vehicles the Front Brakes are larger than the Back brakes so I went ahead and mounted a matching tire on this new rim so I could get this job done.

Now this new Rim is replacing my NON matching tire that I had to get on the road the weekend before (had a blow out with no spare - not fun - 5 hours on a SUN night durning Covid 19 lockdown waiting for help and $450 price tag with Good Sams road side (they only paid like $150 for drivers miles to and from my location + did all of the leg work and payment etc).

So now my OEM Ford rim with the New Non matching tire is my spare and the new Aftermarket rim with matching tire is my new LR outside tire.

But the plastic tire valve holder (goes in one of the holes of the rim) will not fit.

The 4 round OEM holes Measure aprox 2 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches. These new rims measure 2 5/8 x 3 7/8. So I wil have to figure that out with some home made stiff wire holders. For now I duck taped in place.

Bottom line DO NOT PURCHASE THESE RIMS> Better off finding the OEM Ford rim on Ebay for like $88 (the new Ford rims were $225.00 each - what a rip off).

So now I purchased a 3 foot breaker bar (I have plenty of sockets and other tools) and I also purchased the Viar Air compressor for Class C RV's (on sale).

And I finally purhcased the EeZ RV TPMS so I know I have a leaker before I run another tire.

I'll take a look at ripping down that front caliper.
I have a nice grinder.
