Loud Roof Mounted AC
I’m new to RV-ing. Recently acquired a 2015 Four Winds 31W. Inside the RV the AC is very loud even on low. The unit cools great, but the sound is almost too much. Any ideas on how to reduce the decibels?

"The unit cools great"...this is the best part of your post!! The noise is sweet music if the cooling is great!! Many would put up with a "pots and pans" band with kids singing just to have great cooling!!

They are loud but not unbearable loud. I can still watch TV but if someone is in the bedroom and im in the captains chair I may not understand what they are saying unless they speak up (But not yelling).
Maybe go to your local RV dealing and look at a new model with the same AC as your. Have the Sales person crank it up and see if its about the same noise level? Or if you know someone with an RV maybe listen to theirs?

^^ditto^^ They are loud but comfortably so. You may have an air restriction going on or the fan motor rubbing the shroud.

Unfortunately they are all kind of on the noisy side. There just isn't much insulation between the AC and the living quarters, plus they need to move a lot of air, both to cool and to help prevent the unit from freezing up. We tend to run the rear one, when we are in front, and the front one, when we are in the bedroom area.

We can watch TV but find ourselves varying the TV's volume as the A/C cycles ! LOL

That was one of the first things we noticed about our "new" 2015 Windsport - the AC is louder inside than out. From outside, you can barely hear it. Inside? Irritating at times, but not to the point we'll turn it off on a 90 degree day... ;-)

I was going to try using some household duct insulaton (Cut to fit then spray some adhesive on the back and stick everywhere I can without restricting airflow) to absorb the sound some. I have not tried it yet but it helped with my heater in the RV. Very noticable difference on the heater.
