Electric awning 2016 ace 29.3

Awning would not retract.
I followed the manual and unplugged wires near the motor and ran a jumper cable to the battery.
Got awning to retract.
Fuse at panel is ok.
Does anyone know what could be wrong.

So to clarify... you ran a jumper from the awning motor thru the switch directly to the battery?
If the fuse is good, then the switch is good and the motor is good. Either the connector at the motor on the factory installed wire or possibly the ground is bad since the fuse didn’t blow. A bad or intermittent ground wouldn’t allow enough current to flow so likely won’t blow the fuse and the motor won’t run. If it was shorted the fuse likely would have blown.

I ran the jumper from the battery to the motor, and was able to get it to retract.
Bad switch?

Ok but what told the motor to go in or out? The same motor extends it and retracts it.
