Maintaining the slide out
Hey everyone... what’s some of the best suggestions in maintaining my slideout? Is there a gear to lube or grease up? Can it be check or should it be checked for alignment? Aaaaand are they all kinda noisy? Thank you for any answers or help.

If you have the Schwintek mechanism (racks on the slideout with small motors in the walls): They did recommend lubricating them for a while (even posted a video in youtube about it) but I've heard that they don't recommend that anymore...so not sure LOL.
I've lubed ours once in the 4 years we've owned it.

At our PDI we were told the same thing - that it used to be recommended to lube it but no longer is. That said, I’ll probably do it every 2 or 3 years.
I read a lot here about slide problems but mine have, so far, worked fine and they certainly are nearly universal these days with many machines having two three or even four of them. I’d love to know what percentage of slides actually ever fail.

The manual says they are designed for years of maintenance free operation. That to me says " Biff, keep your dam hands off off her".

I think unless you are hearing/feeling some type of slowness or binding/grinding, you probably don't need to worry about.... or if you have your slides deployed for lengthy periods(months) and you have harsh winds and weather that could possibly drive in dirt, dust, grime into the mechanism.
since the slides are CLOSED when traveling, there's no issue for outside elements interacting with the gears or rails... only when deployed.
I have some CRC brand spray lube on hand, but have only used it several times in over 3 years and 80,000 miles and many, many slide extensions and retractions : )
no worries.

Manual does say to brush out the tracks if there is debris in them. Which I have done a few times after being set up for a while.

The slide on my 2017 Miramar is not functioning correctly. I'm taking it in the 14th of February for repair. 12K MILES! Also, the wallpaper is peeling off, the main door doesn't latch properly (repaired once before).

I bought a can of spray lube from the dealer, who said it was the only lube that should ever be used on the Schwintek. Can't recall the name, and its in the storage garage with the coach, but I do recall it was fairly expensive. I was told to spray it along the tracks, and run the slide in, out and in again, every six months to a year. Takes five minutes to do, no big deal.

Was probably this: CRC power lubricant with PTFE (Amazon) its the stuff Schwintek used to recommend.

Not likely your problem...
...my slide was making a funny rubbing noise (particularily in the early going) and just recently a lens for an overhead light fell out --it was under one side of the bed. It must have been on the cushion and got caught up (no lens are missing in the ceiling of my unit so it could only have been caught up on construction) so now I have a spare;-)
I have also learned to open windows and the door while retracting or extending the slide...that really cuts down on the labouring noise. Nancy

Maintaining the slide out
My hurricane slide started making a racket towards the roof in the first month that I got it. It turned out to be the center support for the slide awning catching the awning fabric and cutting it. It was under warranty so they replaced the awning and adjusted the support. Works well now for the past year.

It may be a bit OCD , but I sweep the floor before retracting the slide. Keeps the rollers etc. from picking up the FL sand.

Hey Traveler... after finally inspecting my slide out in the exstinded position... I discovered a snipping tool left behind...on top of slide out under the awning... also discovered slightly frayed edges in the awning as well.

The problem with lubing parts like this: it'll hold grit and grime.
Since these rigs are on the road: they're being exposed to all of the road grit.
Once that stuff gets mixed into the lube: it acts just like sandpaper, and increases wear.
It's probably best to keep those slides clean...
