There's a reason Navistar "mothballed" this engine and started using engines supplied by Cummins and Volkswagen. It was just another issue with IHC/Navistar's years and years of inability to manufacturer a decent commercial I6 engine. CAT had the same issues. International Truck and Engine Company supplied Ford with the first of the "PowerJokes". It took Ford nearly 30 years to finally produce a decent commercial diesel engine.

Agree with gritz they are horrible engines always blowing the egr cooler and dumping antifreeze through the dpf system, and a lot of turbo issues, the company I work for made Navistar buy back most of the trucks with maxxforce engines and went to cummins.
