Microwave

Our Sharp Microwave stopped working, since it is 10 years old, we decided to replace it. We ordered a new one. Now comes the problem, how do we remove the old one. This is in a 2012 Thor Serrano 34M.

In the editing window select go advanced if not already in advanced. At the top of threads message box click the down arrow next to the paper clip. Select the photo, upload the photo. Close the attachment window, click the arrow and attach the photo.

Not sure if your unit without a picture. If you have a cub board above your microwave you will have to remove the floor of the microwave, probably staples in. Gently prie it up and off., if you have molding around microwave. It will have to be removed to gain access.

Good luck.

How’s that picture coming

You probably have a trim board going across the top of microwave 4-6 inch in height. If so, you will gently have to remove that pc. Unless you can get to the top of the microwave, from the back or sides. Normally the trim is secured by small nail staples. You Just have to go slow.

Good luck.

Great. If you haven’t already watch a few u-tube videos on replacing over the counter microwaves. Very informative.

Good luck

So what you're really working with here is a Sharp Carousel convection microwave oven. Do you have the model number? Find the manual online for installation and you should be able to see how to uninstall it.

I found this info at Openroads.net:
-There is a large metal mounting bracket that is secured to the wall.
-Inside the upper cabinet above the microwave there should be 2 screws near the front of the microwave - one on the left and one on the right. See step 8 on page 7 of the install manual. The microwave's case is set up for 2 mounting points to the upper cabinet, although, as others have stated, there may be additional screws that are securing the microwave's case to the upper cabinet as well.
-Removing the grills from the bottom of the microwave will reveal 2 long bolts that go up at a diagonal that hold the microwave to the metal mounting bracket.

And this installation manual:

To post the picture to your comments do not use the Quick Reply box (like I'm using). Look just below the last comment in this discussion. You'll see a brown box with the words "Post Reply." Use that to write your comment. At the top of that comment area you'll see an icon for "Attachments. When you use that its is just like making an attachment to an email.

You click the Paperclip icon and select the file. After the file is selected click the "Upload" box. That adds the file to your comment.

Ended up hiring a local Maintenance Man. He did a great job and for less money than we would have had to pay an RV Tech.

We had a Sharp in our 04 Phaeton that died when it was about 10 years old. I found the same model on line for a much lower price than from Tiffin or an rv dealer so ordered the microwave. Fortunately a friend of mine had a Phaeton and had already replaced his. He warned me that it weighed about 80 lbs. and that he and his wife had almost dropped theirs when the last screws came out. I put a piece of plywood on top of my gas stove and a bottle jack on top of that with a 2x4 or two on top of the jack and we got it down and the new one up no problem. By ordering the same model I was able to use the same mounting plate on the back wall which probably saved an hour of work. The job only took about an hour with one helper helping me balance the units on top of the jack. 2 bottle jacks would have been even better.

If it's only a microwave it'll be much lighter than ours which were convection/microwave units. Good luck.

We hired a Maintenance Guy, he had no problems installing the microwave/convection oven by hisself. A RV service shop said they could not do it. Because of the weight we decided not to do it ourselves. Thank you to everyone for all the good information. Now I have another question, our Dometic Airconditioner stopped cooling and heating, what could it be?
