Microwave Replacement

We have an 08 32" Wind Sport. The coach has a Sylvania microwave which stopped heating. There is power to the unit but it won't heat. Has anyone replaced this microwave in their coach. If so what brand and model did you use? Sylvania no longer makes microwaves. Would appreciate any help regarding repairing or replacing this unit.

Replacing is going to be your best bet as those things are made so cheaply that they are not really repairable.

What you replace it with really comes down to the mounting configuration.

I looked into replacing the one on my prior coach. From research, it boils down to the size of the opening in which it is installed. On mine, after removing the face plate the microwave just sat in the opening. There was also about one inch of trim board that could be cut to enlarge the opening for a larger microwave.

I suggest you remove the face plate from the microwave, if one is installed and them measure the opening. You can then go on line or to a store and look at the dimensions of a MW that fits your opening. You may even find a combination MW / convection over that fits the opening.

I did eventually replace mine but it cost me over 100K (new coach).

Psst. Tiny little secret....

Most modern microwave ovens never actually die, (if the touch pad isn't destroyed). It's usually a burnt out fuse in the oven itself.

You do have to remove the oven though. It's usually on the back, (or underneath), behind a unmarked access panel. Or, you may need to remove the entire rear metal or plastic cover.
