Motorized slow rise windshield shade won't go up, only down!

Miramar 34.2 - 2015 coach. I press the up and it acts like it wants to go up but doesn't, down works normal... any one have this problem or a clue how to fix it? Irvine shade brand.

I am not familiar with Irvine blinds (motorized or spring controlled).....and looking at their web site briefly (assuming I got onto the correct site) shows only spring controlled blinds from what I saw.

You say your problem blind is motorized though and the simplest motor control method is by using a DPDT (double pole double throw) switch with an Off center position. Usually the up/down positions are momentary only for simple DC motor controls (like your awning). The switch basically should control battery polarity to the DC blind motor. Up position turns the motor one way; Down position reverses the battery connections to the motor so it will turn in the opposite direction. There may be other circuit enhancements to control speed of the motor also. The fact the motor runs in one direction normally should mean the DC motor is OK; I would "suspect" the switch has failed in the non working direction, or a wire/connection has failed open in the failed direction. A basic simple DC motor control schematic is attached for reference.Of course the circuits can also get more complex using relays etc. but I would guess a blind is simple.

Not sure about your rig, but our front blind has a more complex controller board. It prevents the blind from going down while the engine is running and is wired to the ignition. Ours shorted out and our blind would go up but not down, opposite of your problem. I had to replace the entire circuit board, located way under the dash requiring a contortionist to access it.
