My outside entry assist handle broke today. Life threatening for infirm folk.

So many of you say you're wobbly or infirm or do not properly ambulate. This could have killed even someone in their prime.

Check yours today.

If you make one out of clear lexan: I think it would be cool to illuminate it.

Do you have any thoughts on how this happened?

Me being 6'4" 220lbs, strong like bull and smart like tractor, was my first guess but upon inspection the plastic seems to be a two part pour that failed. In the pictures it looks like a partial pour, and the topped off, creating a weak spot. (I'm just reading that into the failed flow look of the center of the rod. Only a guess.)

Bill,
That doesn't look good. Glad you didn't fall.

That reminds me of spring time icicles shearing from roofs and killing people in those cold states that get real winter.

Now with the time and $$ you spent, maybe it should have been this installed?

Stay cool

The bar is available for $9.75, I paid $10.41+-.
There's a link in the link.
It was 20 minutes to install.

I did check Thor's website where they list all the components like the handle and there is a lit one. Maybe one could just shine a light in the one on the installed?

Just a bump.
I grabbed that big handle today and hauled my full weight up with it.

Something this technical and safety related should be taken to your dealer

I modified our existing non lighted handle using this.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Wired it to the existing awning led (they've been gone for years) switch.

I noticed it's no longer available, these will work
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

With bulbs similar to these.

I had an acrylic grab-handle like that in a hot tub several years ago. Broke in similar fashion.

I did a double take when I saw our new MH had one! I'll never understand how choosing aesthetics over engineered safety makes sense!
