Well covers in a 28A

I have an issue with the driver side well cover in the back “basement “. When I picked up the MH, I found the cover was 1 inch short on the long side and didn’t fit in the recessed place made for it. The repair shop ordered a new one and it was the same size.

Anyone else have this problem?

I'll post some when I get home, but anyone who is experiencing this problem will know what I am talking about. From the schematics it looks like THOR buys the whole rotmolded basement from overseas. That might be a problem.

What's a "well cover"?

In the 28A (maybe others) there are parts of the storage area that are molded below the level of the storage area. These are the "wells". There are covers that go over these wells so that you can store gear above the well.

Here are some pictures. As you can see, the covers don't quite fit the well.

I also have a 28A and the "well covers" on my unit are the same as you mention, seems to be the same with all the well covers as well as the table. They also don't support much weight before they sag.

Thanks for those pictures!
With my lousy eyes: I'm having difficulty with seeing much more than a minor adjustment with a file or rasp...
Have you tried tinkering with them a bit yet?

My table and the other two are fine. It’s just the one cover that is short

This cover was cut short. See the gap?

I’d need to see it in-person but...
If it was me, I’d fabricate an inner support around the lip to aid in creating a solid platform
And/or add a solid cover under the rubber flex cover

Bottomline...it’s a DIY project as Thor & Dealer will only cause frustration for you

Let me put it this way... my vision is pretty piss-poor at best...
How short? Could it just be from the cover sagging while in place?
I even blew up the pictures... sorry!

I'm still enough of a newbie to give it a go. There is at least one other who has the same issue.

The Customer Service Team has asked for these photos, so I have sent them to them.

BTW, got my EMS. Also I'm going to pick up the RV from GiantRV today. Gonna get it installed!

Ok
Hope Thor takes care of you

Glad you’re getting an EMS, you won’t regret it.

Wayne, I answered your message. Not sure if it helped though. Mine didn’t seem to fit at first either but by moving it around a bit it “fell” into place and has been ok ever since. I will say they can be easily moved out of position though.

I have the same wells in my 28z. The covers fit, but did have one slip out because compressor was a bit heavy on top of it. Cover was kind of bent so i turned it over and it was fixed by the weight of the compressor and bin on top of it. None of mine are exact fits but not an inch out of fit.
