NEED EMERGENCY HELP!!! 2021 Thor Ace Broke down

We are currently on the side of I70 freeway. CEL came on.
Called Ford Emergency. They will tow up to 98 miles. But they cant locate a nearby Ford Dealership, nor cant find a truck repair shop. Any idea on where to call for Service?

Worse part, our towed Mini Cooper also broke down the other day.

Help!

Do you have roadside assistance insurance?

Check engine lights can mean many things. Does the engine still run. If yes keep working your way to the closest Ford Dealer.

Also, if you can locate a campground nearby, they may know someone that can get you moving?

Agree with keep driving. If the engine sounds ok and if you’ve got normal oil pressure and temp it should be safe to drive. It might be something as simple as a loose gas filler cap. Godspeed!

All gauges are OK. First the CEL blinked. I pulled on the side. Turned off engine. Turn it back on and CEL is solid. Driving OK. No lugging or anything. I re tightened the gas cap.

I would keep driving then until you get closer to a town with a Ford dealer. Many cars currently being driven with the check engine light on. Some even have black tape on the dash to cover them up.

I think I agree: press on, and good luck!

Around here: most auto parts places will hook you up to a diagnostic scanner, and let you know what the engine is complaining about...
That info will be useful.

Amber light keep going: At least get to a safe place where you can work things out. If engine feels like it is performing chances are it is emission related. If you can get to a AutoZone or other like place they can read the codes and you can tell Ford.

Solid CEL when stopped. Soon as I drive, started blinking. Ford Roadside said OK to drive if solid CEL. But if blinking, have it towed. Confirmed that with Ford Dealership. What to do???

I pulled over once again at a Loves truck stop. Called a mobile
Mechanic to at least scan the code. I have with me 8 of those spark plug wires (after reading that issue with some of the 2020 F53). Hoping that is the issue. The light is continuously blinking now. Ford said to STOP immediately if blinking.

Having problem getting towed to the dealer with a towed dolly, car and 3 people and 2 dogs.

Only 3rd day of our road trip. This is bad. Never happened to us before.

Good that you have a safe place to work things out. Good luck with both vehicles and you get back to your trip soon.

Its good that I always pay attention to this forum. A while back, I came across a Topic about Ford Service Bulletin regarding 2020 F53 spark plug wire issue. Based on Ford’s TSB, I ordered 8 of the replacement spark plug wires. I have those with me. The mechanics here at Loves gave me a name and number of a mobile mechanic. He run diagnosis and gave “misfire on cylinder 3”. I asked him ti replace ALL 8 spark plug wires. CEL gone now. Only thing he cant clear is the Error Code on his scanner. He said Ford will know there was an error on cylinder 3. Ford need to clear it.

Thank you forum members for the heads up on that TSB. Having the right part needed with me made the fix a lot easier. No need to tow to Ford. Driving now to Mini Cooper.

OK. Now this is really messed up. After the mechanic replaced all spark plug wires, we started driving on I70 in MO. We made it past I70 to IL area. Hoping to make it to Cincinnati tonight. Pari at Walmart Superstore 3 miles away from Mini Cooper dealership (where they have an appointment and the special ordered brake line). And what happened next???

I swear to God I promise to be good from now and, and not let anything else bad happen on this trip. Just before Mile Marker 161 on I70 in IL, my TMPS started alarming on my Left Side dolly tire. I saw the number going down fast. I was able to slow down and pull to the side. But the RV tilted to the right because of the slope. Almost shit in my shorts. I have a spare tire and tools. But i dont want to take a chance and get hit with those speeding trucks, on a 2 lane road. I called 911 and asked for a Highway Patrol assistance so I can safely change the tire. I also called AAA for roadside assistance. HP gave 15-20 min arrival time. AAA couldnt give any ETA. After few minutes waiting, State Trooper came and pulled behind us. Put on his lights. I was able to change tire and safely got back on the road.

I told my wife Im done for the day. We have 210 more miles to Cincinnati Mini Cooper. Im burned out. There is a KOA on the next freeway exit. Told my wife lets call it a night. They only have 1 pull through, but only 30Amp. Good thing we have a 30 to 50 amp adaptor.

What a day!!! I hope tomorrow will he better.
