Never saw the dumpster

So I rubbed against a dumpster. I don't remember seeing it and the overhang hit it as I was turning.

I would like to replace the door and frame, bondo the scratches, paint and new decal. This is on the bunk slide. I would like to look like if never happened. Then I will also try to erase it from my mind.

Should i buy the stuff and bring it to a normal car body shop? Camping World?

The RV shop I use has it's own paint, repair Dept . I would call around to see if you can find a RV shop with the same they can track down parts and supplies needed for fix. Money is always an issue but so is peace of mind. Good luck.

I had bought mine at a camping world. The closest CW to me (a different dealership) did a warranty repair and replaced the entire rear wall of mine. They did a fantastic job of it. The colored panel was no longer available so they even matched the color and painted the rear to match.
so
I'd imagine yours could be fixed like it was never there.

Hard to see fully in the photo how deep it is
Based on how it looks to me, I'd evaluate just doing a straighten and "jury rig" repair.
so I'd guess that a regular automotive body shop could prob do a good job without any parts that you would need to supply.
Looks like the aluminum door frame might be able to get straight enough just by pressing and bending. Maybe removing it to press in a vice perhaps.

If I were doing a DIY, I'd think about maybe replacing the lock, and guessing that the edges of that whole are dinged up a bit, I'd fab up a nice looking decorative reinforcing plate or an oversized stainless steel washer backing it up just to cover the edges

&I'd guess the blacksticker could be replaced by any printing/sign/graphics shop...or even with matching paint...just the little short piece(s) with damage....

What isn't in the picture to the right? It looks like the scratch or gouge on the lower picture frame goes further to the right. Did the incident cause the seal or chalking along the picture frame to break or did it bend the picture frame at the bottom of the slide. Looks like the next gouging would be from an insurance company or body shop doing an insurance claim.

All the damage is confined to what is in the photo. Mot really interested in jerry rigging anything.

I guess my question is do I being this to Camling World and let them repair it or do I get the parts from Thor and bring it to a regular car body shop?

What parts are you talking about. All I see is a lock that was pulled through the door panel. What else is missing. The frame can easily be straightened and fixed. Paint and decal is just a touch up. Any good auto body shop can fix this relatively cheap. The lock can be purchased at any camping store or on Amazon.

The lock, door, door frame and decal need to be replaced. Bondo the gouge and color paint / clear coat.

And you can't buy any parts from Thor, you have to go through a dealer such as CW.

After you're done with the repairs: we'd all love to see the "Before & After" pictures...
Good luck!

I would find a real body shop that will do the repair. They have color scanners for matching paint. And, are simply used to making perfect repairs.

We're looking at rain for most of this week...
Pictures will be forthcoming; as soon as possible.

I did speak with Thor about ordering parts. We are interested in an additional curtain and rail. They referred me to their preferred outlet in Indiana.

It looks like you have the HD-MAX exterior, which isn't painted. It's a colored fiberglass gel coat. I think you could replace the door and decal and buff out the scrapes a bit and it would look fine, unless you look really closely.

I had a compartment door come open while driving and it scraped the ground and got damaged. I replaced the door and decal myself and it looks good.

My opinion on your original question is I wouldn't trust camping world to change my shoe laces and I wear slip on shoes.

If you can get the parts have a reputable dealer do the work. If at all possible find an independent RV service center with a body shop. The independents are becoming hard to find but they still exist and they are usually swamped repairing stuff Camping World breaks.

Thank you. That is what I kind of figured.
