New Axis owner - battery tender question
We're first time RV owners and never used battery tenders before. I saw this Battery Tender unit at Costco and am wondering if it would be suitable for the Axis chassis batteries when it's in storage. Can any Axis / Vegas owners chime in?

If you have access to 120V why don't you just leave it plugged in and in "Use" mode? I would. (Or if you're worried about the converter overcharging the batteries simply just plug it in for every weekend or so.)

Oh yeah... I do have access to 120V inside my enclosed storage. I saw some discussions on battery tenders here and thought it was something we needed. Thanks JamieGeek. 👍🏻

Depending on the sophistication of your on-board charging system, I would opt for using a battery maintainer. Some on-board charges can over charge and boil the electrolyte from your batteries. Since I have AGM coach batteries, I use a maintainer specifically for AGM batteries and a different maintainer for the engine battery. I also have a knife switch to completely remove the coach batteries from the system.

On most of the coaches you can just plug in to 120v, put the store/use switch in the "use" position and forget about it. Check the water in your batteries occasionally.

It's an Axis. I'm guessing not very sophisticated. I don't know if the batteries are AGM or not. And I just noticed in my original post, I asked about maintaining the chassis battery when I meant the house batteries.

I can almost guarantee you don't have AGM batteries. The coach battery will also charge when you are plugged in.

Nope no AGM batteries to be found on an Axis. Just crappy Harris ones.

SUPERD is right, if plugged into SHOREPOWER the CHASSIS and COACH battery receives charge (as long as the STORE/USE switch is in USE mode)

Metalman, I replaced my dead Axis coach batteries with AGMs. Would you mind sharing the maintainer you use with your AGM batteries?

The charger is "Batteryminder 2012-AGM". Prices vary from well over $100 at Northern Tools to the $80 range from Amazon.
