Fresh water tank

Twice during a recent trip to Florida when hooked up to campground water, my fresh water tank filled. I caught it before it overflowed...any idea what is going on? This is a brand new Chateau Super C and out first time out.

Common problem. There is a back check valve that is supposed to keep this from happening. They seem to tend to stick or break. I don’t know exactly where yours is. Maybe someone with your coach will help.

Try turning off the city water and run the pump a bit. A lot of times the check valve in the pump gets some debris in it. Running the pump for a little bit can clear them out.

May want to check and clean the strainer before the pump as well.

Digger, you don't mention what model of Thor that you have. On my Vegas, the check valve is part of the water pump.

First try what has been suggested. Unhook city water and run off the water pump for 10 minutes. A lot of times, that will clear any debris in the check valve.

If that doesn't work you have two choices. If you are under warranty, contact Shurflo and they can supply you with a new check valve. Or you can just buy it. The other (quicker) choice is to replace the pump.

Actually, they sort of did, a "Chateau Super C"--no specific model though.

Recently had the same problem, ordered a new 4 way valve from Anderson Valve $35.00 with the same results. I gave up and installed a simple on off ball in line valve to the fresh water fill up hose. Problem solved!!

Thanks for the help...I have the RV in the shop for a little warranty work and mentioned the water issue. He acted like he knew what the problem was.....we’ll see.
