Non-weight Tire PSI

were going on a short trip (~300 miles one way) in about a week and i noticed the tires on the 31E looked a little flat-like; especially the rear dualies . i want to top them off before getting out on the road.

i know the proper way to do it. get your rig fully loaded, weighed, run it by the GVWR and other numbers and then look it up via Tire data to determine the correct PSI.

what i want to know is if there is a way to do it without weight and without the max sidewall PSI. i know i need to do it properly, i just haven't loaded the RV yet.

also i know to fill them cold. would the tire be considered warm if its been sitting in the sun for a few hours?

and finally, what about filling them while the jacks are extended? or does the coach have to be on the tires to fill them?

You should read chapter #4 in the following reference. It's all about RV tires including proper inflation.

There will be a yellow placard somewhere near the drivers seat with the recommended inflation pressure. It will be the correct pressure for the rig at the GVWR on the original equipment tires. It will not be enough if your rig is over weight and it will be too much if you are light but without weighing it the place to be. I believe you should make the final adjustment with the jacks retracted.

I would fill the tires to the proper psi while on pavement, leave jacks up. I like to check the psi while the sun has not gotten to them. It always seems that one side or the other gets warmed from the sun. But sun heat to me does not fit the warm tire definition.

I agree...
Think about it this way: How do you check the air in the tires for your Car/Truck/Motorcycle/Bicycle/ATV/Golf Cart/ Side x Side/Wheelbarrow?
