Norcold N611 Refrigerator

Yesterday our RV refrigerator went out while on the road .... the renters smelled amonia. They turned it off.

We can't find a N611 anywhere or its replacement NA7LXR on this side of the Midwest. Thinking about replacing the cooling unit until we can buy a new one. So far they are 10 weeks backordered due to the virus.

Any alternatives or thoughts? How did you handle this rare situation?Click image for larger version

Several years ago I had to replace a cooling unit on my TT. I used RV Cooling Warehouse and got a new Amish built one. Top notch ordering/delivery experience as well as support for my questions. Looks like they may have what you need in stock.

The Amish built cooling units are drop in replacements and work fine. Lots cheaper than a new fridge. Most Dometic service places can install one for you.

When you get it fixed, look into Fridge Defend. The last post is a great option, have looked into it for a friend, he's going to install this month I think. Here is a link to Fridge Defend, I installed one earlier this year

X2 of the fridge defender. My brand new Dometic fridge died on its first trip. Dometic replaced the cooling unit under warranty but it was a $1200 part and half a days labor for the shop that did the work. The fridge defender wouldn’t have prevented the failure but it’s a good safety invention and, if you include the inside and outside fans, it’ll make for improved efficiency.
