Thor oil change

Contact/ask a big RV Resort (if you are not staying in one along your route). Many RV Resorts have regular service by mobile RV Oil Change services that are quite reasonably priced. They may/should have a contact number for you. We have also had the generator done at the same time. Our service also included checking the tire pressure. (2020 Miramar 37.1)

3- Ford manual is a different maual than the owners manual.
4 - Oil spout is super high preventing any cool spout or gadget from helping you pour it in. I fact, it only helped me spill more oil on myself trying to get it in the spout. Auto shop kid talked me into buying a 5 quart container plus 3 single quarts for a total of 8. The single quarts were easy to pour, but forget the 5 qt container. There wasn't enough room to tilt it high enough and after wasting enough on my driveway and myself I just used one of the "cool gadget" spouts to pour it from the 5 qt container into a single just so I can get it into the darn spout. Why would they put it that high?!!!
5 - I had to go back and buy a filter wrench because there was no way I could get the filter off without it.
6 - The mechanic soap may have been the most valuable thing I bought.

Result: Oil changed! Ready for my trip from Oregon to Virginia.
An 8 dollar hand pump from Harbor Freight or anywhere else. Stick one end in the 5 quart container and pump it in and then in the next 5 quart container, pump in what you need start the engine, shut off and check the oil for being full after the oil has time to drain down, check for leaks and you are done

Oh man .. don't get me started on my oil pour into engine adventures ... I have resorted to using 1 quart containers. .. and yah, I also now pour from the big jug into a quart bottle, then into the engine.

Thankfully the E450 chasis (Vegas 24.1) is IFS up front so no big axle in the way of the drain.

Also I am ashamed to say I end up using my leveling jacks to be able to crawl under and get to the drain .. I know it's not the safest thing but we all gotta live on the edge sometimes ... it's either that or lose some weight and get back to being my 20 year old agile self which we all know aint gonna happen.

Why not just buy oil in the quart bottles in the first place. I do that for my class A and it’s a simple no mess pour.

If I use quarts it costs $63.04 and if I use 5 quart containers it costs 43.95 for oil. Less is always more

For me, there are generally 3 reasons:

1. The already mentioned cost
2. Availability .. sometimes the local auto stores only have the big containers
3. Recycling the oil at the end. It's easier to pour the used oil back in the bigger container to take back to recycling.

But also in my case, I have only changed the RV once every couple of years so it hasn't been too much of an optimization process at this point.

Very sorry. At my local stores they’ll sell you the oil in quarts for the same price as the big ones. I understand about recycling but I have a 5 gallon jug I use for used oil so I only have to take it in about once a year.

Oil is not coming in a 12 qt box (with bag liner) to save on wasted plastic. It's very much like how box wine is sold.

The boxed 12Q oil is cheaper then even the large 5Q jugs.

Who sells quarts of motor oil for the same price as a 5 quart container. I will start buying from them?

I suppose prices are regional, but at least at AutoZone in my area (Indiana) there almost always is a special price on 5qt jugs with an oil filter. In the fine print it says “or 5 qt bottles”. But for sure, the individual price is otherwise much higher.

Depends on what engine you have the 6.7l uses a lf3970 with 12-16qts 15w40 depending on oil pan size the 15 l Cummins used a lf14000nn filter and 40qts of oil , I use amsoil 15w40 and buy it direct from amsoil but it’s expensive and with there filter ea80 you can go out to 18k mile interval the ea80 is an extended life filter.

What fittings are those besides the garden hose. Is that a air hose fitting?

Are you guys using conventional oil or synthetic?
And how many miles are you going before an oil change?

Femco Standard 90° Drain Set is not a garden hose or air hose.

I use Mobile 1 in everything I own, I've been using it for over 40 years

I do too. How far are you going with the MH between oil changes?

Your Ford will tell you when to change it. If you don't put on a lot of miles in a year it will alert you that it needs changing at one year from the day it was last changed

That may be true on the newer F53 chassis, but on the V10 chassis there is no Oil Life Monitoring system.
