Oil Change Location
We're new to RV'ing. We have a Thor 30FE (Class C 30'). I take my cars to Valvoline for oil changes but where do you take an RV?

If the door is high and wide enough, you can continue to take it there. I take mine to my local Jiffy Lube (25’ Axis). Your Class C would fit. Usually it’s the door height that is the issue, but I have had several places where the width was not wide enough. Unfortunately, you can’t fold my mirrors, but you probably can fold yours.

Our local Ford Dealer can't service ours...
I'm just going to have to take it back to Camping World for all of it's servicing.

I hope your camping world is better at services than they are at warranty work!

Truck service place should be able to do it. But I’d like to suggest you consider doing it yourself. The Ford V10 on an E450 is, hands down, the easiest vehicle on the planet on which this service can be done. Access (ground clearance) is huge and both the drain plug and the filter are right there on the bottom of the engine. 20 minute job and barely get your hands dirty. Costs less than $50 if you do it yourself. Less if you don’t use synthetic.

I do my own, my local Walmart carries ford oil and the correct filter. I also do my own lubs for all the steering hardware. Easy peasy done in 15 to 20 minutes.

Is there a Ford Fleet Dealer in your area? They can usually handle RV's.

I was on the road when my first one came due. I called a place that had a ad up on the bulletin board in the RV park...."yeah sure. bring it in. Thebay wasnt large enough so the had me wait until the minimum wage earner showed to climb under and drain the oil. Then they entertained me with several different ways to not get oil into a vehicle.
I do my own oil changes now. Its really roomy once you get under the vegas and everything is easy to get to.

I am with the DIY crowd on this. I quit doing my cars years ago, when I could no longer get under them without a lift. Many places that sell oil also accept used oil. Mine goes to Advance Auto.
Absolutely nothing mysterious about changing the oil and lubing the joints of an RV.

I take mine to jiffy lube. Camping world wanted 160 dollars. They got me 170 for a tire rotation- never again.

We have a local truck garage. He does our oil changes, inspections and any repairs that I have needed. Reasonable prices and prompt service.
Probably Vermont is to far for you to drive to.

Me too! I rarely do my cars anymore for needing to jack them up. And they seem to make filters harder to reach with every new car. But my RV is cake. I put a drain valve on it to make it even easier.

It really depends on the RV. I always took my former DP to a Freightliner oasis shop. My current Gemini, goes to the dealer for house things, and the Mercedes dealer for oil changes and chassis related things.

A gas RV oil change is really pretty straightforward. Any mobile RV guy should be able to do it fairly easily and quickly (as well as inexpensively!)

I fulltime. So I usually have a chat with the front office at the RV Park. They always know the local good place for a service. I always have them do - oil and filter change
- battery check and fill
- rotate tires

The nearby Dealership lacks the capacity.
But I have been turned-on to a shop that's close enough to offer a glimmer of hope!

Lube
Are there lube points on the E450 chassis?
