King Jack Antenna Adjustment - No Signal Strength Indicator?!

Hi All:

I had a King Jack antenna on two prior RV's and they were a piece of cake to adjust. Just turn them until you got to the spot where the most lights lit up.

On my Challenger 37TB, there are no light on the antenna adjustment knob in the ceiling. What am I supposed to guess?

Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks a ton folks,

Bill

We find it very worthless trying to turn it as it really don't change much. We finally went over to the Dish Tailgater. Pay as you go with no contract and still get all local channels no mater what city and state you are in.

Thanks. I'll look into that. But for now I'd like to know how to use this thing.

king jack

If no LEDs are illuminated, chances are you have no 12 volt power to the antenna. I found the King Jack to have superior reception to the old crank-up antenna. Is there power at the antenna/cable switch? Is the green light on? If not, you have no 12 volt power.

That's the thing. There are no LED's period. It has no lights to illuminate. Weird.

I believe King sells a head unit intended for aftermarket replacement when just the antenna is needed but some RV mfg. are installing them as a cheap complete system.

Yes my 2016 has this same; it is frustrating - how much money did they save by cutting corners on this. Note the sticker placed over the LED light holes.

You say you had the King Jack on two prior RV's, but what is on this RV, is it a Windward? If it is, there are no lights and you just turn the knob while watching the RV (or someone else watching it) until you get your best reception. So, you would do the same thing if you don't have the LEDs for a King.

I just put one of these on my Vegas. It replaces just the head, so still raises and rotates on the stock arm. The new King head resulted in two LESS channels in my driveway, both 50+ channels.

Hope to take both on our next camp trip, and check them again. Disappointed!

I received the roof layout drawing from Thor today for my 2015 Vegas 24.1. My unit has the Winguard antenna that raises and lowers. On the roof layout drawing I noticed in the list of revisions that Thor went to the King Jack antenna on 6/23/2015. So if your Axis or Vegas was built after that date (2016 model) it received the non-raising King Jack antenna.
