Onan 5500 carburetor replacement

I need to replace the carburetor on my Onan QG 5500 generator. I've seen pricing fluctuate from $60-$350. I hear these things gum up regularly and not sure I want to drop over $300 for a replacement. Anyone know of a good source to get the best replacement? Part# 146-0774 or 541-0765

Tried everything to clean it out but nothing worked. Was told they're not worth rebuilding and should get a new one.

Thanks for your help...

If you can get the generator to run, try some seafoam in the fuel. It works wonders to clean up a gummy carb.

Yes, let is sit overnight and it's still clogged. Also tried Seafoam!

Can't get it to run. Used Seafoam and ether to get it running but tried for over an hour and it wouldn't keep running. We had good weather and hookups last year, we didn't use the generator and like a fool I didn't start it periodically. It's like I ran super glue through. That's why I'm just looking for suggestions on whether or not I should just buy the $60 replacement rather than the $300 Onan replacement.

Personally, I'd go OEM-Onan...bite the bullet once and do it right. If not, the bullet will bite you on the hottest day of the year when the power is out at the CG and the wife is pregnant with triplets and the furnace board is stuck in the "on" position with a full tank of LP. At least if you had other problems more serious with the generator later, you'll have better support...they will point to the carb, shaking their finger in the wrong motion.

Usually, when you shop for the cheapest price first...that's the only thing you get.

New carb, fuel filter and fuel pump. Damn thing still will NOT stay running. It fires up for literally one second and then stalls. Any ideas?

Be sure it’s actually getting fuel. Is the float bowl full or does it pump fuel when the line is disconnected and you turn over on the starter? Thinking a kinked line or plugged pickup in the tank. Only need three things to stay running, fuel, air and spark. Fuel is the usual culprit but you’ve pretty much got that covered. Less likely, did you check the air filter and replace the spark plug? Very (very!) unlikely might be a plugged exhaust or bad primary wiring. Good luck.

If it stops without a stop signal from of the switches, the light will flash the computer error code. Mine was flashing an over-speed code. After playing with the governor, I found a huge mud dauber nest blocking the governor's arm. Much water, big screwdriver and a hammer cleared the obstruction and all is well.

Low oil shutoff? You may have plenty of oil but if the circuit thinks it's low then it shuts you down.
