What I have done with some success is to remove the rubber/plastic and pieces I can take off like the choke, float, etc and then drop the carb body in a bucket of Chem-Dip overnight. Wash it off the next day with water, let it dry in the hot sun and put in back together and back in.

There's your problem. 2 years old and if never used to supply needed power should have at least 24 to 48 hours on it per the maintenance requirements in the Owners Manual. Buy a clone carb from Amazon, start it and test it's power making ability before putting any more time or money in it.

If you are lucky enough to have an operational generator after installing the carb, read the maintenance section of your Generator Owners Manual and follow it. Neglected generators die far more frequently than well used generators.

A onan replacement carb for mine was $35 and came with a fuel filter.
There is no value in cleaning small engine carbs.
Honda 160 carbs are $11.
Chainsaw carb was $14
Gator carb was $27
Amazon

Aside;
My onan ingested the venturi throttle plate/butterfly.
Jammed itself into a valve and used one of the screws to tattoo the chamber.
Extended warranty($75 transfer cost to me when RV was bought) today approved $100% replacement. $100 deductable
I hope to harvest
Starter
My new carb
Fuel pump
Control board

Problem solved, put it in my ultrasonic cleaner, and blew it out. Took a couple of tries. What a bitch taking out and reinstall. Next time, it's getting an inspection hole in the side of the cleaner cover and a rubber plug. What a piss poor design. I swear engineers do this to laugh at us. Running stabil 360 now.

For others;
There's a trick to it.
There are two wingnuts.
The interior wingnut is tightened down hard.
This compacts the rubber seal allowing a 1/4" to get the carb in and out.
The two long bolts holding the carb require a 1/4" short ratchet and the complementary long extension.

When reinstalling the bolts wrap the heads with paper towel so they jam into the socket negating wobble/fall out.

I did it about 8 times last month.l when my carb blew up.

And
If you have to take off the intake manifold just go ahead and cut the housing that keeps you from reaching the rear nut. There's nothing under it at all.
Patch with a beer can or soup can.

And
Ssssoooo much sound comes off of that tin lid to the air cleaner.
I'll probably move that whole air cleaner to outside of the generator and go to a junk yard for an aircleaner housing off of some car.

I hear you... I run that generator every trip, put carb, injector cleaner in after each fill. Never misses a beat... Starts right up when button pressed.....luv that ONAN 5500, specially with Summer coming and 2 AC units helps alot.

Probably overkill with the cleaner, i keep tank full all the time in storage, for 3$. Makes me feel better.

We have the new fuel injected quiet generator. Not yet made in the 4000W model but it’s a total game changer for the 2800W used in van campers! Garmin told me they put the development on hold during Covid but working on it again.

If your generator runs, just not we’ll try this. I learned in YouTube university to disconnect the rubber fuel line from the fuel tank, plus it with a bolt so fuel doesn’t leak out. Change the fuel filter, screws off and on, Connect 18-24” new rubber gas line to the new filter inlet, other end into a gallon of fresh fuel with 1/2 cup of Seafoam. Run for 10 minutes. Shut down for 30, run again for 10 and then reconnect fuel line from tank to filter inlet.
