Sliding Window help needed

The part on the sliding glass which you use to open, close and lock the window has come off. I put the rubber piece back on the glass and then tried to gently hammer the bracket over the rubber piece but didn't work. Any ideas?

This is my front window lock MOD.
1/8 inch hole drilled in channel right before the glass when Fully Closed. With SS screw on hole blocking sliding glass.
Windows are EAST TO SLIDE OPEN WHEN LOCKED with that cheap lever lock.
Photo is my passenger window. 2 min fix.

There is adhesive involved - but I don't know what kind...
I had the drivers side piece come a little over a year ago. After trying silicone, and lasting only a short time - finally had dealer do it as part of another visit... Don't know what they used.
Of course now the passengers side has come off.

Like the mod - and will do similar... think i'll use some kind of pin so I don't need tools to remove and open window - but still need to get the original piece back on to help opening/closing the window.

My brother 30yrs major body shop in area said they would use this. (see pic.)
... the screw (for window lock MOD) is finger tight and the threads seem to hold it in place Good Luck !

It was a PIA last time as I recall... I'll try working on mine this weekend (heading out shortly to find that adhesive) and will give you any hints I figure out...
Unless someone else has hints to help us both!

I put the rubber piece on and then tried the piece of wood and hammer process. I was concerned about hitting it too hard as the metal piece wasn't going over the rubber piece. GRRR. I was even talking to it.

one of mine did the same thing recently. No adhesive, just friction fit of that rubber.... I tried and tried to press, squeeze with clamps, etc....
ended up leaving out the rubber, filling the metal channel with Lexel
pushed into place and cleaned the excess, then taped with masking tape to cure. Has held well for a few months now.

Let me know which adhesive you choose and how it works. BLW 2, good idea, also. I think a simple adhesive with the chance of NO mess is the answer for me. Maybe JB Weld?

Couldn't find the SEM adhesive - but JB Weld had one that looked similar that I picked up - listed glass, plastics as materials, cures in 5 min and dries clear...
(Several other brands - but all others I saw - Loctite, Gorilla, etc) said yellow cure - or may yellow with heat...)

I'll let you know how it works...

yeah in my case, I had a tube handy from another project, it's a good sealant that sticks to most everything, and is very transparent, so I gave it a shot.
The only issue was that it takes a rag with mineral spirits to remove the excess....
