Outlets not working

Hello. After a trip to dump our black water, half of our outlets into longer worked. We reset the breaker as well as the fuses. No change . We were told that some Thors have 2 GCIF outlets . We can only find one , but it will not work . The red light on it works , but the outlet will not . Any advice ? Thank you !

It will probably help if you tell us what year and model rig you have...

...And welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forum. Usually there will be a gfi outlet in the kitchen area and one in the bathroom. Anywhere there might be water.

Are you on shore power or gen? If one works ok and other does not, it is most likely your transfer switch. Then I suppose if there is a complete failure of the TS, you may not have any power. Although, I think the TS fails in one of the positions.
If you have checked that all breakers and GFI's are ok, you will have to track it down. Mine power failed without warning and I tracked it down to the outside shore power receptacle wires were loose.

My experience - a red light on GFCI means 'tripped'... (My sticks/bricks kitchen has that variety...) Those with a light indicating 'on' have been green... (Recent Lowes purchase used in garage shop has that variety.)

The GFCI outlet will protect all 'downstream' outlets as well - so one bad/tripped GFCI in an RV will take out multiple outlets in the bathroom, kitchen, and outside. Most Windsports will only have one GFCI from factory protecting those locations - and typically in the bathroom.

If it won't reset - try replacing it.

2018 ACE 30.3. Mine did this too, gfci in bath comnects to other outlets inside and to the one outside. Got rid of it, replaced it with a regular outlet, all works fine.

If it has a red indicator light, then it has power, but something is causing it to continuously trip where you cannot reset it.

Not what I would recommend... There are good reasons for the GFCI to be there - protecting you and your family/guests is at the top of the list.

They do fail - but are easily replaced. If a new one continues to trip, then there is a problem that needs to be fixed to avoid shock potential. Often a wet outlet in that case - the outdoor one being the prime candidate. Or a bad appliance plugged in.

I found I could not reset the GFCI outlet with my fat finger. The only way to fully push the reset button was with some kind of thinner digit... in my case, a ballpoint pen.

I’m experiencing this problem now. 2021 Thor Outlaw 38kb - this model’s GFCI outlets don’t have lights - on in the rear works fine, kitchen outlet is dead. Reset the breaker, (it wasn’t tripped tho) and checked fuses. All seems ok. Thoughts?

GFCI outlets have their own reset, it's not in the breaker panel, it's on the GFCI control outlet at the beginning of the chain:

Generally, there is one of these control outlets in the bathroom. Many MHs have two GFCI control outlets.

Might just be a bad outlet. RVs generally have the cheapest version of everything and outlets do fail. I’ve had a couple of them fail on my sticks and bricks home built in 2018. You can buy a standard duplex outlet at the big box store for a buck and a quarter - usually from a bin - or you can spend $4 for a brand name outlet. There’s a reason for the price difference. It’s even more pronounced for GFCI outlets. I bought a 2 pack for $15 and one was DOA. Anyway, check for voltage at the back of the outlet and if you need a new one get a good one.

Not a good idea! If replacing it you need to do so with another, probably much better quality than original, GFCI plug. DO NOT bypass the GFCI or risk someone being hurt.
Also just FYI. The fuses in the breaker panel are for 12 volt items only & will do nothing for the GFCI circuits, those 120 volt circuits will be the circuit breakers like in your home, turn them completely off then back on if needed, most times they will look good til you do this.

Long time since the last post on this thread but for the benefit of others looking for the answer........check the GFCI outlet in the garage upper loft area. There is a GFCI up there that probably needs reset. Why would Thor put one up there????

I recently lost power to the outlet under the sink and the two forward of that in the overhead cabinets. Then today I lost another outlet over the entry door which powers the forward TV. All breakers are good and the GFCI outlet tests and resets fine. I'm going to replace the GFCI outlet in hopes of solving the problem. The outlets don't work on either shore power or generator. Any other suggestions or leads would be welcome.

Depends on which camp you're in. If you're comfortable trouble shooting 120 volt AC with a multimeter, start with that. Otherwise call a mobile RV tech. Messing around with alternating current without knowledge can kill you.
