Velcro “bag” under bottom bunk bed

Hello all,

We have a 2014 31E with a full slide and bunks. There’s a “bag” under the bottom bunk that allows the slide to come in as the sink drain is in the way and hard piped. I found a few nuts and mice stuff all over the bag so I assume it’s a way for mice to come in. Velcro seals the seam and I reattached as best as I can plus added bounce sheets and Irish spring bars inside the bag. Anyone have to deal with this scenario or have any thoughts on a tighter seal? Thanks

I had my wife make fabric covers and sew in Velcro along the edges. I them placed adhesive Velcro to the underside of the side. When I extend the slide, I place the covers over the openings that the bags are supposed to seal but don't. This helps to keep the bugs and other vermin from coming into that part of the slide.

You just have to remeber to remove the covers before retracting the slide.

I removed the bag, it was ripped, and place Styrofoam with velcro over the hole

When I found ours under the left dinette bench (in the slide room), I did a double take... what in the world??

Ours is wrapped pretty snug. I just re-attached the velcro and it seems to be okay. It's definitely some oddball engineering!

That's the problem with having the kitchen area on the slide

Yep... in hindsight we would have been perfectly happy with just having the bed on a slide. While the full wall slide does make a lot of room, with the "bedroom only" slide you can have a window on BOTH sides of the bed for better ventilation. Sacrifices... trade-offs...

My 24ST has theater seats in the Driver side slide and twin beds in the rear. bedroom has cabinets on both sides and the back wall. Rear slide loses the side cabinets. 24ST also has a full pass thru storage below the beds.

All you've done is given the mice nesting material and a late night snack. Only preventative cure is denying them access.
