bunk
you may need to cycle it from top to bottom a few times, and upgrade your pins

the trick is to make sure to let the bunk 'down' a bit after you install the security pins, making contact with them... that way the bed is putting pressure on them and can't 'slip' down the tracks any further, and also keeps the bed level.

my issue is almost the opposite,
the pin have never backed out, and after travel, the slight drop binds the pins so they are very difficult to remove. I have to barely raise the bed just slightly to unbind the pins for removal. My fear is that over time this will mess up my otherwise meticulous adherence to the synchronizing techniques while raising and lowering.

I raise the bunk all the way, put the pins in and done. I've never had the pins fall out or the bunk drift down, YET!

I also lower the bed onto the pins when stowing it. So far, no issues with the bed nor pins.
I am not sure, but I think the dealer rep told us that sequence when we got it. Dealer is Mike's RV Superstore in Santa Fe Springs/Colton.
Jerry, Do you remember if your dealer mentioned it?
As to RV being level first, I haven't made it a point to put the jacks down, but try to be on "level" ground before I lower it. Having the body "twisted" when lowering the bed or sliding side doesn't make for a good practice.
I did have to put several screws into the track to attach it to the frame a little while back. I was prepping for a trip, and noticed the drivers side only had 2-3 screws holding the track to the frame, while the passenger side had about a dozen or more. Contacting Thor, the rep agreed with me that it really did need a lot more. Got some #8 drill screws and fixed the problem.

We have found that when we put the bunk all of the way up and put the pins in, the bunk eventually settles when driving onto the pins. We have never had the pins come out. We occasionally have to reset the motor controller.

I had an issue with the bunk binding one time when I tried lowering the bunk while parked in the driveway without leveling. Finally got the bunk back up. Never had any issues with bunk when the RV is level. Don't forget you're in a big box and in needs to be level.

The walk thru we got at Total Value RV mentioned to lower the bunk on the pins just a bit. Haven't had any problems with it.
