Peeling upholstery

i have a 35 thor hurricane 2015 i'm doing my sofa, dinette, driver and passenger as we answering your problem don't look for anything or anybody other than a repair shop and redo it. We are paying $2800 for all above, we're in Miami,Fl. Good luck. We will trade this m/h as soon as we can get out of here.

Has anyone had the vinyl seats (front and sofa) reupholstered? What is the approximate cost? And did you have them reupholstered in the same vinyl?
SO many people have had this problem and so many posts on it you can't count them all. We just had our seats, sofa recovered with fabric when the vinyl starts this....and it won't get better btw....when you look at it today, this is the best it will ever look. Replace, reupholster, whatever but the old stuff will have to go. To reupholster will run you around 2K or better for sofa and 2 capt chairs. Be careful who you get....some locals don't have a clue and will take months to do it....find someone reputable or just buy new pieces and install them....not too difficult.

Sprinter Seats

Does anyone know if the front seats in a sprinter chassis (Thor Citation) are actually the original sprinter seats just covered with this terrible material. Thanks

Is this Thor issue, or an individual model issue?

My folks are buying a Thor Gemini tomorrow, and I'm more than a little concerned.

csj2008, in answer to your question. Yes just as the other reply said its happens to all makes, models, and years. I wouldn’t be too concerned if it happens there are ways to make them better, reupholster them as I did, and yes from a repeatable shop. The one I used mainly worked on boat seats but there are other. Seat covers, or replacement. All can be had for various amounts of money, time and trouble. Wish them Happy Trails for me.

Yes lots of different makes and model but it leaves a bad taste and anger when you have to puy $3000 to fix something that it is not good from the start. That is why i will never buy a Thor product ever again.

Silliest post of the year.
You conceded it's standard across the board, yet defile your admission of across the board being standard with hateful inequity toward one of the many.

The very definition of bigotted.

I don't agree...I kinda get arangutan's point....I think
if you feel like the company screwed you, then why would you buy from them again?....
For all I know those other companies that were specifying the same garbage might have done better by their customers...might have corrected the spec faster, etc....

My question to those with these feelings is if it was that way when you bought it (cheap material and workmanship) and it is that way after you bought it then why did you buy it in the first place? Did you think someone was going to wave a magic wand and the material was going to change to high quality Corinthian Leather with million dollar stitching after the purchase.

At some point in time personal responsibility for a purchase has to come into play. Nobody, and I mean nobody, was forced into making the purchase they made. Nobody was issued a ration card that said you could only buy a Thor.

For anyone that ever bought a new Thor product, it's your fault. Your purchase enabled Thor to be profitable and continue manufactureing what some think are inferior products. It's your fault the dealers continue to sell inferior products and provide lousy customer service.

The above statement only refers to new purchases since used purchases do not in any way shape or form impact Thor's profit or loss. Thor only benefits from the initial purchase by the dealer. Also, as a matter of fact no single person has ever bought a unit from Thor. You bought from a dealer that had to buy the unit from Thor.

Let the fireworks begin. Just remember "You bought it under your own free will"

Thanks.
It's the first I've heard a name for the fabric used and until proven wrong, I'll go along with you being right.
We got a heavy dose of it with home furniture.
I'm glad you've given something a bit More tangible to lock on to.

Should go a long way toward making those who are blindly angry at singularly Thor, have to re-edumadate themselves and understand it wasn't a personal vendetta against them nor a Thor conspiracy to punish low priced motorhome buyers.

IF anyone reads what you typed without agenda, they'll come to this forum and apologize for their singular barbs in a crowded room.
I have faith
(faith oddly has the same definition as insanity.)

you can actually buy a durablend repair kit on amazon albeit the color Thor used in a lot of their models would be a difficult color match I saw someone else posted they used fibernew . I have used them in past and they did a good job but you are just patching a problem that will resurface

The new seats are a little more expensive than plastic upholstery but it worth the money, but make sure to get real genuine leather because the collection reads leather and means plastic. Ask for real leather, it is only a couple of dollars more and last for ever. I replace both seats for $1,300. Installation was easy, all the holes are the same

Has anyone had any luck in getting Thor to cover some or all of the cost to fix this peeling seat problem? My mother's 2015 vegas has only 12k miles, has been stored well to keep UV out, and has had this problem for quite some time. This defect is so apparent and pervasive that I would expect there to be a lawsuit or recall on this.

Like anything, "no responsibility here...maybe the vinyl maker...maybe the furniture manufacturer (Flexsteel???) maybe this or that....but we only installed what we had." We just got ours reupholstered and paid for it.....some things are just too much aggravation to deal with and in the meantime, your stuff looks like crap. It's the way litigation is handled and they hope they can wear you down....and they can. I decided to pick another battle. Love the job we got in the meantime.
It's like some thors that put upsidedown louvers in a grill for the furnace panel. 2015s for instance. Water runs right down into whatever is inside. Starting late 2015 and beyond, no grill above the exhaust vent...and none needed.
