Power

Boy I sure would like to have something done to our rig without another problem coming up....
Just paid $1400 to have sensor of some kind replaced. Along with 2 new front tires and front end alignment.
No cabin power and no radio. Water pump not turning on.

Any ideas where to start? The dealer is 3 hours away....
Thanks as always

Is this a pop up or a motorhome?

Some details about the rig would be helpful.

Had issues with Auto Level, radio and cabin power.

Own 2015 Thor ACE 29.2

Found that house batteries are tied to level feature and radio. Had to find the circuit breakers for the cabin power. They are located in the engine compartment. May need to check them.

Has anyone replaced their Onan generator with something more reliable.

Looking at either a full solar system or another type of generator.

Thanks

Other thing to check is the circuit breaker in your house battery box. Had a similar problem and it somehow got tripped.

Onan is slowly replacing their carbureted gas generators with modern inverter based ones. The QG2800i is now out and the specs are impressive: very quiet, uses less gas particularly at partial loads and is quiet. And the price is about the same as the old one.

And it is electronically fuel injected (EFI) which generally eliminates gasoline ethanol varnish build up and starts instantly without having to prime the carburetor.

They should have the QG4000i out soon.

Solar is good but shady campsites or cloudy days don't work well. You will usually need a generator, either a portable Honda type or the new Onan to deal with those if you camp for long at one spot.

The best tool you can have in a travel trailer of ANY type is a multimeter and the knowledge on how to use it. So you "checked" the USE switch... How, that you pushed it to "USE"? Did it 'clunk'... is there power going thru the relay? What was it that "we checked"?
The easiest way is to follow the wires and know yer system, you will be visiting it a lot! Start at the batteries, ensuring there is enough power to light your $3 test light... you have one, right? Follow the (red or pos.) wire to the next point... a fuse, relay, terminal point... does the test light light up there? Follow the wire(s) further down.... is it the fuse panel? Check ALL fuses.... And so on.
You have to help us to help you. Little information = wild-a$$ed guesses (at the worst) while one may be spot on.

Apparently the battery was completely dead. Had some work done and they left something on for a week. Charged and working!
