I recently bought a new Furrion 30 amp power inlet to replace the one that my unit had been equipped with from the factory. The quality of the connection to the shore power cable had deteriorated—it often needed a wiggle to operate properly—and I didn't want to take any chances with the darn thing causing a fire, especially considering I was about to add a second rooftop AC unit.
Even when it was brand new it didn't seem right. Either Thor mangled it at the factory or, more likely, the dealer mangled it one of the times the unit was in their shop for service.
But the crux of this little tale is to reveal what I found when I went to replace the power inlet. I was absolutely horrified to see what a lousy job Thor had done with the original installation. Neither the hot, neutral, nor ground wires were sufficiently tightened—a fire and shock risk there all by itself—and the amount of stress on the internal wiring because of the completely inept installation and inadequate strain relief almost made my brain explode.
Not only did I address all these issues when I swapped out the old power connector, but the little blue light in the lid of the new one works great...for now.
