thor 2004 197wtb battery not charging with hookups

Took our used trailer out for the first time (recently bought). We were at a campground with 15 amp power, and noticed that the battery was not charging. I am thinking that the converter may be the problem, but not sure where I would find it and I do not have manuals, so I realize it may be the case that the trailer does not have one.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated,

You do have a converter. All trailers do. It is behind or under your electric breaker box. The will be an approx. 12 x 12 or so box with a door on it mounted near the floor.Usually under the range or stove but can be anywhere. The converter must hove electric to it. You say your plugged in but do you have voltage? Converter is fed by a 15 amp breaker in the electric panel. Are you plugged into a GFI outlet? The converter will change 120 volt power into 12 volts to power the lights and charge the battery. There is an inline resetable main fuse under the tong within 6' or the battery. Be sure it is reset. There is also two "Reverse Polarity Fuses" on the converter that must be good.

Thanks Cavie, great info, thanks so much. I will hunt down the different elements and see which one is causing the problem. Probaly makes sense to find the converter first and start checking for voltage out from there?

Yep. Do you have a voltmeter? You should have a 120 VAC breaker in your breaker box that feeds the converter; and as Cavie said, there are two large reverse polarity fuses on the DC fuse side that connect the converter output to the battery feed line.

Check the battery disconnect, if its "off" or in "store" mode you'll get no battery charging. Be sure it's "on", in "use" or "connected" whatever it may be called before you starting tearing stuff apart, may be just that simple.
Also check your batteries water levels, if by chance they are 5 years old or older they are possibly toast & won't charge.
Disconnect the battery cables & check converter out put, should be 13.6 from the converter. While the batteries are disconnected read their voltage, again they may need replaced.
Several things to check before you may throw out a good converter.
