CW....they used to give 10% off to seniors....beware of anyone who fills your tank to the brim or doesn't have it on a scale when they do it. It's cheap and lasts a long time.

LOL....looks like some people have a little too much time on their hands these days and don't know how to fill it....shitstorms and "clever" little answers are a pain when you're just looking for a pretty straight-forward answer. The forum shouldn't be that way but it seems to be devolving. Sort thru the crap and get your answers....good luck.

We heat our home with propane and have a 1,000 gallon in-ground tank. When we get our home tank filled I usually ask the delivery guy to top off the motorhome at the same time; the motorhome and home tank use the same connection.

If you don't get home delivery, you can stop at any propane seller and they should be able to fill the motorhome.

Geez guys, read the question ...Permanent Motorhome tanks not exchange .. No
tractor supply that Iím aware of has bulk filling capabilities..only propane exchange . and U-hauls in Ky.. same. Hopefully in some locations they bulk fill... Iíve never encountered one.
Some propane suppliers you have to ask .BEWARE !! .. I encountered one that charged based on tank size .. I pulled up with 1/2 showing on gauge and they said itís a 40 gal charge ... whether you buy 1 gal or 40....
I find many Ace Hardware fills motorhome along with many farm supply places.
Some campground has propane service 1x week.. ask .. itís a little more expensive but worth the convenience!

Why? Unless you have an old tank that should not be refilled, they have an internal fill limiter that will not allow it to be filled more than 80%. It is built in mandatory safety device put in all tanks.

By the way, fill up at any campground that has it where you are staying. Some give two prices. One for people that stay in the park and a higher price for people just stopping for a propane fill up.

The cheapest place in town. In my town, that is the dealer. Prices here range from $1.85 at the dealer to $2.39 at Ace Hardware.

Sorry you're not aware that MOST Tractor Supply locations have the ability to fill permanent Motorhome tanks if you have the ability to maneuver your MH to their filling system which is usually inside their gated compound. In addition, at least in my neck of the woods, their price per gallon can't be beat.

propane on the road

I usually go to Pilot or Flying J. Most, but not all have propane near the RV fuel island and you get a discount with their Rewards program.

Strange enough, it seams to me that the propane station is usually on the "drivers" side when approaching the fuel pump islands. So if your propane tank is on your passenger side, as mine is, it's best to pass through the fuel island in the counter-intuitive direction. The fuel pumps themselves are on both sides.

Many stations also have a dump station at the RV island.

I have found that if i am on the road, any uHaul facility will have propane and a delivery system for RV's. So far price has been about average and service is usually quick.

Well said. This used to be a great place to get & give info. Unfortunately, the smart aleck answers and disparaging remarks about someone's opinion seem to be more & more the norm. Have a nice day!

The COSTCO in Marana, AZ has propane. We've used it many times. However, 2 weeks ago we went to fill up and they said it was closed because pack rats ate the wiring! They didn't know when it would be available since they have to dig up the road and parking!

Just filled my home 400 gal propane tank yesterday.
Paid $2.49 /gal for 385 gallons
Last year at this time, I paid $2.19 / gal
They tell me the increase is not inflation, but “Transitory” (haha)
Bottomline…that “Transitory” increase cost me an extra $85.50 vs year ago

Anywho…I had them fill my RV tank while they were here.
So that was easier than driving to a station to get filled.
