Propane Tank
Hi. I have a 80 gallon propane tank on my Thor 2017 37.1 Miramar. When I opened the propane valve it released propane. Just a second or so. Then all is fine is that normal was it venting . We were driving for 6 hours up and down large mountain grades. Weather 40-55 degrees.

Sounds normal to me and nothing to worry about.

"Released propane" where?
Pressurized the low pressure lines? Probably OK but you may have a minor leak.
Into the atmosphere? Probably not normal.

The propane released when I started opening the valve. Then stopped. I open and closed valve three other times no issue.

After the first time the lines already were filled with propane so no more flowed. Sounds normal to me. Unless you can smell the propane or it continue leaking I wouldn’t worry about it.

This is not normal. It should not happen. Faulty tank valve.

My thoughts as well. Gasket or seal not tight. Brief leak when first opened. Resealed by tank back pressure. It will fail completely before long and be a major issue.

Normal or not depends on the OP clarifying his description of the "propane release" which he has chosen not to do.

The only issue I have with this statement is the size of the tank
80 gallons of propane (in a 100 gallon tank) weighs over 500 pounds
That’s a huge huge tank for an RV
I think the OP mis-spoke
Miramar generally comes with a 25 gallon tank (weighs 105# empty) which holds just under 20 gallons of propane.

You beat me to the punch!
I'm guessing it's an 80lb tank which holds approximately 20 gallons, not 80 gallons.
I would spray some soapy water around wherever it appeared to have leaked along with all other fittings to verify if it's still leaking & if so go to the local LP distributor & they will have the fittings & expertise to fix or replace it, DO NOT take it to a rv dealer.

Propane valves have two seats, they seat fully closed and fully open. Any leaks you experienced while opening the valve is due to leaky valve stem packing. It either needs to be tightened slightly or replaced.
The packing typically last for years so may just need tightening. Avoid tightening to the point the valve is difficult to open or close as needed.
The size of the tank has no issue on the valve situation or condition.

Update. After our return trip. Using the propane heater and stove. I turned the propane off when we left. After returning I waited a few days, then opened the propane valve again, no his no noise.

I agree the tank size has nothing to do with his question, but they do need to know they do not have an endless supply of propane, there's a big difference between 20 gallons & 80.

This is no time to be Grumpy.
Back away from the computer. Go turn OFF you Propane valve, drive to your favorite propane dealer to top it off. While there tell them what you experienced and ask them to verify no leaks.
When you go home, you can go back to being the Grumpy Grandpa that everyone loves

I looked up the specs in a Thor Miramar. It has a 24.8-gallon Propane tank which hold 105# of propane. Perhaps Grumpy GP is confusing the size of the chassis fuel tank which is 80-gallons with the size of the propane tank. The Miramar also has 80-gallon black and gray holding tanks as well. Sometimes those tanks produce something that smells like propane.

I'll ask again:
"hiss" internal to the regulator, piping, and hose?
Or "hiss" external to the tank, regulator, piping, and hose; as in: propane released into the environment?

25,000 miles. Use propane all the time.
Stay safe. Have propane place check.
NOT NORMAL

I am experiencing low propane pressure at cold temps when tank gets below half. Is this normal? Model is a 2022 22FEF 12 gal tank
Any suggestions to check or adjust?

Sounds like a regulator adjustment problem.
