Propane use for fire pit, low flames

New to this - just plugged in our propane campfire and the flames are really low compared to portable bottle. Any way to increase pressure, or product recommendations for fire pits that work with low pressure?

Are you using the regulator on the burner?

If so remove it

Sounds like your portable firepit has a propane regulator on it. If you are using the motorhome propane system for gas, it already has a regulator on it and no need to have another one on the firepit. If you only use portable propane tanks(small ones) you need a regulator since the small green canisters are high pressure.

IF you are using an LP tank.
You may have opened the valve on the fire pit (BEFORE) you opened the LP tank valve. Doing that would close up the LP tank regulator partially as a safety measure. Do this.
1. Close all valves.
2. Disconnect the LP hose from the tank to relieve pressure in the hose.
3. Reconnect Hose.
4. Open the LP tank valve first, then open the valve on the fire pit and light it up. You should be ok.
Many people do this with the gas BBQ and wonder why their flame is so low. Not sure if this happens on an RV installed tank or not, but it's worth trying if that is what you are using.

Oh wow, I did have issues with my griddle and grill last year after I added a tee. That's good info there, thanks!
