Has anyone had their axis recalled for heat defrost control?

Hugh,
I had a problem and received a Safety Recall 15V-30. It is on another thread this Forum ( http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f8/...+Safety+Recall).
If that does not work just use the Search option for 01Sept15:Safety Recall 15V-30.

In my 2014 Vegas mine broke and Thor refused to fix it under the recall. I got a snippy note from customer service saying it was a separate problem. It wasn't. It was the same problem, different part. If it was dangerous not to have defrost in one, it was dangerous to have it on mine. Thor did not see it that way, On mine the server that opened the defroster vent broke so that all the heat went to the defroster vents and none to the heater vents. I "fixed" it by detaching the server from the vent closure under the passenger side and physically closing it. Then I had heat but no defrost. Living in Florida, it didn't bother me much.

You should have notified the fed they are very serious about their recalls now.

Yep. I probably should have. I thought Thor would step up. I was disappointed that The fed safety board never picked up on the misrouted shift cable in the Axis/Vegas 24.1. That was a real safety hazard and they never did anything on it.

Oneil, The misrouted shift cable was a scary one! Upon review by the local CW and Ford Dealership my shift cable was "repositioned and more securely attached"...looks like 4 more tie straps (but way up and out of harms reach).
Thanks again for sharing that headache!

My shift cable was partially melted--we even know when it melted, just couldn't trace down the smell at the time. Ford dealer replaced it at their cost after I protested...
Just recently got the chance to look at what they did--nice and safe away from the exhaust now.

For the Newbee's on the site with a Vegas or Axis on the E350 2014 - 2016 models (not sure about the E450 set ups) you may want to check out this older link and then take a close look at your unit. You have to lay on your back, suck in your gut, slide up in behind the driver's side wheel well and look. Best for those 200lbs and smaller .

The best way to check (and fix if necessary) is to pull the dog house. You can get to it relatively easily from above and see the whole cable and how it is run.
