Refrigerator ?

I have the rig wired to the house before leaving for our first camp out to cool the frigfreezer down. I will be loading it with cold stuff. So how do you keep it cool from point a to point b. I know the rig won't power it so it's either run the generator or run the propane. OR do you just not open it until you get to your destination and get hooked up to shore power?

Mine runs just fine on the inverter going down the road. No issues at all. Everything stays cold/frozen.

I will have to check again. I am "almost" positive with the engine running when I unplugged the wire to the garage it tried to light the gas for it. I may be wrong. I will check tomorrow morning and post if I am an idiot lol

That could be the difference. I have a residential fridge and only runs on 110. Yours if 12V is available should run on that.

If its an absorption refrigerator, it will run just fine on LP while you are driving.

Set the control panel on the fridge to "auto" & leave it there, this way when you have shore power or generator it "automatically" switches to electric, when unplugged it will change "automatically" to LP while traveling. The fridge will not run on 12 volt alone, unless by some off chance you have a 3 way fridge, but does require 12 volts to operate the control board. The fridge uses very little LP, the furnace though is quite the LP hog.
Others will say turn it off when doing this or that or going here or there, but mine is set & I have never turned it off in the last 10 years of fulltiming with NO issues, you'll have to make your own decisions.

If you're not comfortable powering it underway, pre-freeze "blue ice" packs and place a few if them inside fridge when traveling. Move them to freezer and refreeze for you next no power movement.

I always put a couple of those packs in no matter what. If aren’t using the generator while driving running on LP doesn’t seem to keep ours cold enough. It mostly likely our fault from cramming in as much as we can.

Ditto. Use it if it's got an auto setting. They're made to do the thinking....plugged in goes to 110 and unplugged goes to propane. Need to have good batteries to keep it running as it needs 12v, when not plugged in, to stay ignited.
