regular maintenance

A year ago, I had the Thor Palazzo 36.1 serviced to be road worthy for a trip last feb. They did a great job at TAG, and we had an uneventful trip as far as performance goes. But due to Covid, we have not been anywhere since. ANd now we are anxious to get out on the road again. My question is, what kind of things can go wrong mechanically during a year-long period of just sitting? Are there things we should have them look for that normally they might not?

I would do whatever the chassis manufacturer calls for on an annual basis. Also, sanitize your water system.

ANYTHING can go wrong in the RV world.

Check the roof for possible leaks..... Is your RV stored outside?

...... If so your RV should be in good shape.... might consider engine and genny oil change before or right after your first trip.

I try to check every single component each year myself.

I also look for loose screws / wires inside and out (Under RV).

Check tire pressure and condition of tire and run AC + heater (in case you need it) run fig. etc.

Plus what MIKEWESS said.

...brake calipers can freeze up.
Rodents can make a meal out of your wiring...
The Di-Cor on your roof can harden and crack
Tires can start to dry-rot
Mold and rot can take hold...

Yeah I was assuming your checking on your RV regular and you were keeping the batteries charged. I drive mine every month and check on it every other week. I dont even have to plug mine in since I drive it so often.

Mine is parked on my property and plugged in all the time. It is my doghouse and I am in it all the time. being retired, I look after it all year long. Others have given most of the items that will go wrong with a RV so I'll not bother with repeating the list but machines that sit unused for long periods of time rarely stand the test of time. The best way to maintain a RV is to use it. Drive it to the big box, eat lunch, shop and then go home. Take day trips using the unit. Anything that exercises the systems is good for it and will spare you grief in the long run.

Yup: letting them just sit is about the worst thing you can do to them...

If you have never replaced the air drier filter/dessicant, I highly recommend it.
