reluctant electric steps

2015 Windsport 34E. The electric steps decided to kinda work they start stop start stop once they stop I'm not hearing the normal clunk when fully retracted and there is a clicking sound which may indicate they aren't fully out.
Motor is very quiet, I'm thinking the control unit maybe failing.
Any experience or ideas?

Start with the easy / cheap stuff: make sure all the joints / hinges /etc are lubed up. The Kwikee step on my old rig needed lubed once a year, otherwise they wouldn't retract fully. I used a can of spray lithium grease with one of those always-lost little red nozzles on it whenever they'd get slow.

I had a similar issue on our last trip that was 6k miles. Stepped worked sporadically and then as we were driving up the hill at Carlsbad Caverns my wife asked why are the steps out.

Used a bungee cord the rest of the trip and had motor replaced under warranty.

I had a 'reluctant' step earlier this summer. Turns out the pin that connects the motor to the linkage was bent. I removed the pin, straitened it and now it works fine.

LT Thanks I'll crawl under and look for the pin. Hopefully that's the problem
In the middle of replacing the sofa with Theater seats and re carpeting the cab area
