Next to the start button on the generator it lists two codes three flashes for "needs service" and four flashes for "over crank." What I have is three flashes, pause and then six flashes. P.S. I looked through the owners manual and could not find anything helpfull.

That's your governor trying to control the engine speed with a gummed up carburetor until the control board says "the heck with this" and shuts it down.
Now you know one of the reasons to do the monthly maintenance.
Unless you have experience cleaning and rebuilding carburetors, you should probably replace it or have someone handle it for you.
