New Battery ACE... which one

I've been told to replace my battery on my ACE 30.2. What do I need? I searched deep cycle battery on Amazon and a million come up.

Your ACE probably came with 2 group 31M deep cycle batteries at about 100 AH each. There's a lot of opinions on what brand and whether to replace the 2 12 VDC batteries with 2 6 VDC batteries but if you want to just replace what you have at the best price then SamsClub or BJs are your best bets.

I'm planning to order them from Amazon. I want to do the best thing. I have no allegiance to what Thor did.

I replaced the batteries on my 2017 ACE 30.1 with a pair of 6V Interstate batteries. 225 Amp-Hours which greatly exceeded the 160 Amp-Hour rating of the OEM 12V Harris batteries that lasted less than 6 months.

They’ve been great for the 2+ years we’ve had them. These are available directly from Interstate. The Interstate 6V batteries that Costco carries don’t have as much capacity (nor the price tag).

However I’m thinking of moving to 4 AGM batteries, once I figure out how to install them. There is space on the battery tray if I remove the plates that Thor put there to fit a pair of 12V. Also I’m not sure of the weight that the Thor battery compartment will take.

Not really.
There are a multitude of options available to replace your stock batteries. Which choice is right for YOUR USE can only be determined by YOU.
What's right for someone else may not meet YOUR needs or may be way overkill for YOUR needs.

You asked what YOU NEED: that can only be answered by YOU.
Your coach needs 12 volts worth of batteries between the positive and negative DC busses. I told you where to get the most bang for your buck to meet that requirement. I don't know of anyone that has chosen a Universal Battery replacement like the one you found on Amazon but if that's what you want to buy, it MAY work if your charger/converter can match the required charging profile shown on the side of that battery.

Be sure to compare the replacement battery dimensions with the current battery's. Flooded batteries are usually 9.5 - 10 inches tall. Many AGM's and 6-volt batteries are taller and may not fit in the current location.

Go to Batterystuff.com and you will get the answers to your questions. Compare batteries by voltage, amp hours, size, technical specifications and manufacturer.
