rolling up awning issue

I have a 2012 Thor Daybreak. when I go to roll up the awning it goes about 2 inches then stops, if I push up on the awning it will roll all the way up. When I hit the out part of the switch it will roll out & if I keep holding the button in it will go all the way out & then roll back up backwards. Come to find out it was the track holder for my rope lights, I have been rolling it up with it still in for a cpl years. Any ideas why it has become a issue now & why it rolls up one way but not the other? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum! Maybe a bump here will prompt an answer. Did you try some good ol WD40?

My awning will roll backwards if held beyond full extend. I saw a coach on the road yesterday with a messed up awning. Had to wonder if it was from a storm or coming loose on the road...
