Five years down the road, very unlikely Thor or the manufacturer will step up. A "good lawyer" would just tell you..."good luck"! Fix it yourself and just keep enjoying the RV lifestyle.

I didn't see until now it was a 2015 unit, so your on your own I guess. I'd still call Thor, you don't get if you don't ask! Right?

This seems like a safety issue fail to me so have contacted Thor about under Customer Care. will see what feedback I get. we bought our 2015 Challenger new so sure did not expect this to happen.
Anyone else ever have this happen?

For me at 6ft. 315lbs I'm afraid to use my onboard ladder for this very reason.
I have a 22ft Little Giant at home for getting on top, but ask on the Thor Miramar/Challenger Owners Group on Facebook what they use for a take along ladder, and a collapsible round tube style seemed to be the most popular choice.
Planning on ordering this one with a Max length of 16.5, and weight capacity of 330lbs. I should be ok, I hope !

I have never trusted the ladder on my ACE. I have been up and down several times and seem to have way to much flex. I carry an expandable ladder that I now use exclusively for roof access.

I agree with not trusting the ladder. Didn't trust the one on our last MH either, a Gulfstream. It really sux that a person can't climb on the roof of MH without worrying about a shaky ladder taking a dump. I climb on top every time we break camp to make sure there are no acorns, twigs, etc on top of the slide out awnings. Every time I climb up top I'm puckered up and I spent 35 years in industrial construction climbing storage tank ladders & scaffolding....

This is the best solution I have seen. Provided you have a place to stow it, a sturdy ladder like this is safe and won't put yourself in too much danger-----Bob

That's what I'm thinking, and I can fabricate something to connect it to the onboard ladder when climbing, as a safety, or some sort of Stabiliser for use if I need it to access other areas.

I have the fold-able 6 foot ladder, collapses to about 2 inches wide and fits fine in the rear compartments of the Challenger sliding in between both sides by the holding tanks

Have plenty of room in the basement now that I've taken out our two Shwinn trikes ( partially disassembled) .
Hauled them around for over a year.

A common theme among these; is the inability to set the ladder at a "leaning angle", that is going to provide a stable platform.
(Too many of them had their legs too far away from the building or wall, and they just kicked-out! )

I have the 12.5 foot version and it is quite heavy, weighing 25 lbs. Not that it is heavy to carry when collapsed, but heavy to move around when extended. Also it works well when partially extended. It is a real pain to get back in the carrying case. It fits well into rear pass-through where I carry the patio rug.
