Rooftop AC (Coleman mach) not turning on

Ok, so my Rooftop AC is not turning on.

So i checked breaker panel, did the reset -- No luck

Replaced thermostat with new (same analog) -- still No luck

I had mobile tech come out and diagnose, cant find the issue, but found out that my house batteries are not holding up any charge. Says this could be the reason why rooftop ac wont start up. We can only use the generator in trying to start up the AC as i dont have 30amp power hookup at my house.

My question is, does the house batteries have any bearing starting up the AC when using the generator?

I'm assuming the A/C unit is powered by 120V & I believe most ( unless you have a large LI battery set up ), only have 120V power when on Generator or SP.

You may want to check on that .

Check the “appliances” 12 volt fuse.

Yes, the control power to the thermostat comes from the house batteries through the furnace. Without this 12 VDC control power the A/C will not run. Your "Tech" should have known this.

But with the generator running the 12 VDC should be supplied by the converter regardless of the status of the house batteries.

With the generator running:
Do you have interior lights?
Is the microwave clock on?
Can you turn on the furnace from the thermostat?

You can also do these checks connected to a 20 amp outlet at your house - you don't need a 30 amp receptacle, just a dogbone adapter:

The thermostat uses 12 volts power from the propane furnace and the furnace gets it power from the 12 volt section of the power center. If your lights work them you should have 12 volts to the power center through the converter. Next check to see if you have 12 volts to the thermostat. My guess is you do not.

I have the dog bone for the 20amp.
Lights and Microwave are turning on
However, the furnace wouldnt turn on nor the fan.
But i hear ticking sound when adjusting the thermostat.
I replaced the thermostat by the way. Same exact analog.

Tech is sayin there's no way he can or anyone diagnose if the house batteries are dead.

Well they are not fully dead, it shows 10.7 volts when unplugged. If the board and thermostat requires 12v power, it shouldnt be that much and with the generator running, it should be able to startup the AC

10.7 VDC on your batteries is DEAD - 0% capacity remaining.

If you are plugging into 20 amp SP and the lights work, and the microwave shows power, then you batteries should be charging at 13+ VDC if the battery disconnect is closed (in USE/Main Power ON) and you don't have any other issues like a tripped 50 amp DC breaker.

My bad, yeah i did check with battery tester and its dead! 😂
But i already got it replaced this morning under warranty.
I updated the tech and told him that AC/Furnace is still not turning on.
He said that the batteries is one issue resolved and i have to pay another $200 diagnostics for him to come out again.
Im insisting that the 12v batteries have no bearing if the generator is running, and he tells me that diagnosis cannot be properly done with batteries being dead.

Well now the batteries are replaced and i told him he cant charge me for another diagnosis as clearly the batteries are not the issue, and to me, this is a misdiagnosis. But correct me if im wrong.

The batteries are NOT needed to run the furnace and A/C when 120 VAC is available from either the generator or SP as long as the CONVERTER is working correctly and supplying 12+ VDC to the DC load buss. If you hired this "tech" to troubleshoot the A/C not running, he has not done that if he quit at "bad batteries".

Thanks for explaining that further and i will sure let him know when he comes back next week. Im definitely not going to pay him another diagnostic fee.
