RV Battery Discharges when plugged into 30amp
Hello,
We are new to RVing and have a 2015 Thor Four Winds 31L, low miles. We have been on two short trips and most functions work well. However there is one puzzling thing. The RV battery under the step, (not the engine battery) seems to slowly discharge even when we are plugged into a 30 AMP service. I would think that it would stay fully charged. It will fully charge when we run the engine for 30 minutes each day. I checked the water level in the battery and it is full.
Is this normal that it would discharge even when plugged into a 30 amp service.
Thanks for any advice.

I'm having the same issue with my 29.3 ACE. Still chasing the issue. If I find something here soon I'll post it here also.

Welcome to the forum. There can be many reasons why the coach batteries are not charging......the simplest for new RVers is make sure the use store switch is "on". Sometimes there is a light beside the use/store that comes on when shore power is connected to the coach (newer coaches may have changed this)....and it fools people into thinking that the batteries are charging.....when they are not (unless use/store latching relay is in the on position). If that is not the problem then there are many other things that can cause the problem but try use/store first. The best tool any RVer can buy is a voltmeter (multimeter) and learn how to use it.

I think we solved the house battery problem. A 40 amp fuse was blown.
A guy pulled into the site next to us in a Quantum 31’ who has been RVing for 20 years, mostly on the road, and I was telling him our problem. He pulls his manual out, we have the same fuse/electrical setup, and he say to check the 40amp fuses. Replaced one fuse and everything is good on the battery.

Thanks for the nice follow up. Most people come here with a problem and never share their solution.
It was a very nice thing for you to do.

You need to have your battery disconnect turned on. This may be your problem.

You'll just ruin your eyes...
about 99% of what I say is light-hearted: the rest is the serious advice.
The trick: sorting them out!
