I saw a trailer with that design years ago at an RV show. The only part that was on the smaller slide was the bed mattress so slide couldnít have been more than about 6 feet long, and didnít stick out too far. I wasnít interested in trailers but the unique design caught my eye ó had to take a look.
Mechanically, loads on slides are probably no worse than a larger full-wall slide. I would worry about wire routing and movement, but feel the structures could be designed properly. To me it looks worse than it is.
I would not buy a slide at all due to various personal preferences, but have to give designers credit for trying something new.
I took these pictures in February 2015 at West Palm Beach RV Show. Apparently the idea didnít take off or we would have seen a lot more in the last six years.
Thatís what it is a 2015 Redwood. Talked to the owners today and they said they have had serious issues with that slide in slide system. They also said if the smaller slide fails to extend they will not be able to use the bed.
